The Nun's Story

The young nun took the two missionaries aside. One of the other women came over with a jug of water; they drank.

"I'm Sister Helen," the nun began, "and you've come to a bad place, I'm sorry."

"The people of this village had refused to join forces with either side in this war. Two days ago, in the morning, the rebels came. They **** the people of the village, about 75 of them, into this church. A few men tried to resist, they were beaten and cut to pieces."

"After all the villagers were here, the leader, a Captain Toby, started giving orders. First all the young girls and children were loaded onto a truck. I'm afraid they were driven off to be sold as slaves to the people in the North."

"Then the old men and women were taken out. Father O'Brien tried to protect them; he had been here working for 20 years; these were his people. Captain Toby ordered his men to nail Father to the cross, then he personally mutilated him. When Sister Agnes, our superior tried to come to Father's aid, two of the men cut her belly open. She bled to **** in from of me."

"After that the rebels dragged the old men and women out into the fields. We could hear screaming for hours. When the soldiers came back, they were covered with blood. I doubt if any of the elders survived."

"About that time a second truck entered the village. Captain Toby ordered all the men and boys onto the truck; he told them they were now members of the rebel army. A few tried to escape, but they were brutally cut down."

"Finally, only the younger women were left. Sister Therese, another nursing sister and I tried to comfort them, but there was little to do. Captain Toby pulled Sister Therese and me into the church. He ordered two soldier to watch us and not to touch us. He made some remarks about the value of holy virgins."

"We could hear the women screaming and the men laughing and taunting them. We knew that they were **** them over and over, but there was nothing we could do. Then one of the soldiers grabbed Sister Therese. He ripped open her habit and began **** her. I tried to intervene, but the second soldier held me back; he ripped off my habit - I'm sure he intended to take me then."

"The first soldier had just finished with Sister Therese; she was bleeding and bruised and sobbing; when Captain Toby came back into the church. He was furious. He took out his pistol and shot both of the soldiers dead. Then he pulled Sister Therese up. He told her that since she wasn't a virgin any more, he might as well enjoy her white flesh before she was sold into slavery. He ordered me to put my veil back on; I think it amused him to see me naked except for this." Sister Helen tugged on the light fabric covering her head.

"The soldiers have been in several times to **** the women, but they stay away from me; I guess they learned a lesson from the first two."

"What's to become of us?" Heidi finally spoke.
