Julie held her breath. She'd seen the things come out of the air vents in her berthing, and so she checked those first. Nothing. Then she picked up a motion tracker and began to scan the corridor, and was relieved to find that Jessica was the only source of movement in the hallway. The girl wasn't doing much, however, save for squirming around behind her barricade. She wasn't even sure that Jessica knew she was there.

"Julie?" The girl called back. Her voice was week, faint. She moaned following. "Julie... Help."

"I'm coming!" Julie shouted. "Are there any of those things down there?"

"Not right now." Jessica said. A shrill little cry came afterwards. "No, not right now. The vent is empty. Julie..."

Julie paused only a second longer and decided it was as clear as it was going to get. She sprinted, her legs carrying her deftly down the hall as fast as she could go, her hair blowing in the wind created by her sprint. She hurtled the crude barricade of upturned desks, cabinets, and chairs, and got her first good look at Jessica that wasn't skewed by the monitor. Jessica looked up at Julie through clenched teeth.

"OK, OK, hold on." Julie said. She turned, looked at the open vent. Then she lunged to her feet and grabbed a chair, shoving it into the hole and then throwing her body weight into it as hard as possible to jam it in tight. It might not stop them, but it'd slow them down enough that she may get some shots off.

She went back to Jessica. The girl was sliding back, her ass slipping in the puddle of leaking amnion.

Something was writhing in her cunt, trying to get out.

"Jessica, hold on." Julie said. She sat the gun aside for a second and then laid the motion tracker next to it. "I'm going to help you get this thing out.

"Please don't hurt me." The girl said. Her belly pulsed. It slid across the floor, tried to find purchase on Julie's pants, but the woman crushed it before it could.

Another followed. Jessica screamed. Julie squealed. Then she crushed that one too. Suddenly they were pouring out everywhere, and Julie found herself having **** but to backup and crush them as they emerged, though some, sensing danger, were able to skitter away into the darkness of the corners, under desks and so forth, and she was unable to kill them.

Jessica laid back, her chest heaving, her body covered in sweat and birth juices. Julie looked back at the vent. It was popping under the weight of something traveling through the HVAC.

"We have to go." Julie said, trying to keep her cool. She slung the rifle over her right shoulder and grabbed the motion detector in the same hand. Then she hooked her left arm around Jessica and began pulling her to her feet. "Come on, help me. We have to go, have to find you some clothes, and have to get away from these things."
