Chapter 19 by hg33

Where to?

The Lion Bar

"The Lion, it's a great bar." You stick the key in the ignition and turn, and off you go.

"Thank you for this," Gwen says again. She puts her hand on your arm gently as you drive. "I've been so lonely since I moved here."

"No problem," you say as you shoot her a quick smile. "My pleasure."

You arrive at the bar and luck out on a parking spot. You hold the door for her as you check her out again. Inside you find a table and order some drinks. You sit and chat with Gwen and find out her life story - she's from Minnesota, her parents are divorced, she loves to teach but misses teaching elementary school.

"High school makes me feel... well, like I'm still in high school. The boys in my class just stare at me like I'm a piece of meat, but only the immature dumb ones, not the right ones." She says, clearly feeling the effects of ****.

You order a second round and continue this train of thought. "Which guys are you looking to impress? The football team?"

She laughs and says "No, ac--" she interrupts herself as the waitress brings more drinks. "Never mind." she says, smiling but clearly still shy. She sips her drink and avoids eye contact with you.

"I'm awful curious about what the other side thinks about us," you continue. "Who are you trying to be noticed by at school?"

She gulps down the second drink very quickly and shuffles her feet. "Well you know. The other teachers."

You smile as your suspicions become clear. "We notice you. I do, at least, don't worry about that."

She looks up at you again and smiles. "I'm feeling a little tipsy...would you mind driving me home?"

"We're just getting started! The night is young!" you say, surprised by her suggestion.

Convince her to stay, or take her home?
