The Ladies of Amethyst Shore
The Queen Bee
Skylar Wayne came down the steps in some black leather short shorts and a loose pink top, with no bra on, so she was jiggling quite a bit, which captured the attentions of every male nearby, even the taken ones, Skylar noted amusedly as she watched some guys get whacked by their girls for watching Skylar too closely as she passed.
She was quite happy to see the party had already begun, even without her having been present. Skylar made her way quickly to the bar that her brother was standing behind.
“Hey, Sammy.” Skylar said, and her brother plopped down a cup in front of her, full of cheap, crappy beer.
“You realize we’re the richest people in town, right? You really couldn’t splurge?” Skylar raised a brow.
“I’m a simple man.” Sam replied, shrugging his shoulders and taking a long sip from his own cup.
“You bought this shit on purpose?” Skylar asked.
“Sure did.” Sam replied, and Skylar shook her head, grabbing her cup off the bar and taking a look around the party.
The dance floor was the most densely crowded area, and Skylar could see people grinding and groping to the tune of ‘The Hills’.
Across the grandiose open room was the double doors leading out to the backyard, and people were flowing out of the house into the yard, where it looked like people were doing keg stands. Already? The night had barely begun.
Skylar spotted Charlie Tower as one of the participants and found herself entirely unsurprised. That attention whore would definitely be eager to try it.
A swaggering football player walked up to her, sorry, swaggering may not be the right word. A shit-faced, stumbling football player walked up to her, and said some drunken pick up line.
“Yes, it did hurt, Nolan. Now piss off.” Skylar rolled her eyes, and she walked away from him. Skylar wasn’t the kind of nice girl who’d stick around and console a guy she didn’t want to be with. She’d crush a guy’s heart and walk away to leave him with the pieces.
It wasn’t that she didn’t care, she just wasn’t an empathetic person like that. Her best friend, Isabelle Holland, would definitely stay and make sure the guy wasn’t feeling too badly. Sometimes Isabelle even consoled the guys Skylar left behind, which to Skylar, seemed like a fair trade off. Izzy was no slouch in the looks department.
“Hey, Skylar!” a cheerful voice exclaimed, and Skylar turned to see Layla Nelson walking up, a boy following closely behind her.
“Latest blow?” Skylar winked at the boy, who shuffled his feet a little.
“I’ve heard he’s hung like a horse.” Layla said eagerly.
“Bet you can’t wait to get your lips around him, huh, you slut?” Skylar joked with her friend. Layla giggled.
“You know it.” Layla said, and the boy looked very optimistic about his prospects for the night as he followed Layla away. Layla wasn’t known as the Blowjob Queen for nothing. She had remarkable skill, and not just skill, the kind of low standards that meant news of her skill traveled quickly.
Getting Layla Nelson’s lips around your cock wasn’t a difficult task, but it was heavenly for guys. Skylar had been disgusted after hearing Layla had blown Sam, but found it funny hearing Sam rave about Layla’s skill, which had done wonders for Layla’s reputation. Jace hadn’t shut up about Layla for a week after he’d gotten his turn, and Layla had confessed a few weeks later that Jace had been one of the rare few to get more than one blowjob from the BJ Queen.
“Anyone seen Izzy?” Skylar called as she walked, but no one had seen Isabelle. Frowning, Skylar went back to the bar to see if Sam had seen her, but found to her frustration that Cole Allen, one of Sam’s best friends, was behind the bar instead.
“I gave my brother one goddamn job. Where is he?” Skylar demanded of Cole. The easygoing, tanned surfer boy shrugged.
“Beats me, Sky. He asked me to cover the bar, and I didn’t have anything going on anyway.” Cole said lightly.
“Great. Don’t fuck it up.” Skylar ordered, and Cole gave her a two finger salute as she walked off, feeling a little miffed. Then she bumped into Anastasia and a little miffed turned into pissed.
“I could have spilled my beer, watch it.” Anastasia snapped. Beside Anastasia stood her best friend Audrey, a really sweet girl who had no business being friends with the bitchiest cheerleader. Audrey rolled her eyes at Anastasia and Skylar’s instant snapping, but Skylar didn’t care.
“Like you need anymore. You look like you’re already sloshed.” Skylar taunted. It was pretty common knowledge that Anastasia was awful at holding her liquor, which had gotten her grounded for three weeks once. Those had been some fun three weeks, as Skylar had been able to taunt Anastasia relentlessly for it. Anastasia had made her pay for it later when Skylar had gotten suspended for being caught having sex on school grounds, though.
“Look, bitch-” Anastasia snapped, but cut off at the sound of an uncertain voice.
“Uh… Skylar?” a kind, sweet black-haired boy asked weakly. Skylar smiled at the awkwardness in his colorful green eyes, then started when she realized that seeing a boy had just made her smile. That was… very unusual.
“Hey, Jamie.” Skylar replied, letting the nickname for him flow easily off her tongue, “Come on, I’ll show you to the bar.”
“I don’t drink.” James protested as Skylar grabbed his hand and led him back towards the bar.
“You’re drinking tonight, Jamie. At least a little. You need to loosen up and have some fun. Consider me your Party Mistress.” Skylar grinned.
“My what?” James asked incredulously.
“You heard me.” Skylar gave him a saucy wink. Oh God. Now she was flirting? What was wrong with her?

The Artist Beauty
Gabrielle Barnes was sitting on a chair, listening to ‘The Hills’, which was blaring on the speaker system that the Waynes had set up. Gabby watched amusedly as her younger sister dragged Jace out onto the dance floor. Val was down bad for Jace, Gabby knew. She’d caught her baby sister taking sexy selfies and when Gabby tried to pester Val about who they were for, a mortified Val had confessed Jace.
Gabby had encouraged Val to show off her breasts more, as Gabby was very aware that Jace loved tits. Unlike ‘Aunt’ Claire’s son David who seemed to love only huge tits, Gabby had seen Jace ogling girls’ tits of all sizes. An equal opportunity titty lover, he’d called himself, which had made her laugh.
Gabby missed Jace sometimes. The two had been really close before they’d grown apart in middle school, and she’d been very happy when she and Jace reconnected at the Halloween Ball.
Of course, Gabrielle wouldn’t trade Emily for anything. Though… where Emily was at the moment, Gabby had no clue. Her fiery friend had gone off to shout at her volleyball teammate Aria Mitchell. Aria had missed the last three volleyball practices, and the guy who’d been keeping her busy during those practices had just accidentally let it slip, sending Emily on a warpath.
Sports really weren’t Gabby’s thing, not with all the drama. The cheerleaders, the volleyball team, the softball team, well, the former softball team. They’d gotten their team disbanded this year for being stupidly reckless and turning against each other at a number of games. After two girls on the softball team’s argument devolved into a full on brawl, Principal Benson had blown up the softball team this year as punishment, which really screwed over the girls who were seniors this year, but after such a public display of ****, not many parents were against the decision.
Gabby much preferred her art. She liked art. Art never caused drama. Both her sisters, Val and Ariel, were kinetic and wild, neither one had ever had the patience to get good at art. Art came in all forms, and while painting was Gabby’s usual medium, she’d recently started dabbling in tattoo art, as evidenced by the small design on her collarbone and the swirling design on her left arm.
A design of birds was on her collarbone, an elegant hawk in flight, while down her left arm ran a pattern of daisies burning with blue flames. She’d created both designs while she worked at the tattoo parlor with her mentor, Stella Marshall. Stella had helped her create the tattoo templates, and had been the one to apply them to Gabby’s skin.
Gabby really loved working at the tattoo parlor, as she got to help people put the artwork they wanted on their bodies. She’d even been texting with Ariel’s best friend Daisy Holland about getting a tattoo made for her.
“Can I buy you a drink?” a voice snapped Gabby out of her happy reverie, and Gabrielle glared at Evan Simmons.
“I’m good, thanks. Take a hike, Evan.” Gabby snapped.
“Why are you so determined to be awful to me? I’m just trying to be nice.” Evan said, playing wounded.
Gabby rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, I’m sure you’re real broken up about it. After what you did to Em… be lucky.” Gabrielle said icily.
“What I did to her?” Evan replied blankly, “If I recall, it was Aria I was doing things to.”
“Yeah, and fucking up Emily’s practices because of it.” Gabby retorted.
“Excuse me for wanting some pleasure.” Evan shrugged, “Besides, I’m not the one dodging practice.”
Gabby’s nostrils flared at Evan’s dickish attitude. Rationally, she was aware that none of it was really Evan’s fault, but everything about him made her want to punch him in the face. He definitely had that effect on most anyone.
Gabby stalked off, entirely unsure how Aria had managed to put up with him long enough to get fucked. She thought that if she ever had to spend 5 minutes alone with Evan, she might very well scream at how utterly fucking obnoxious he was.

The Ginger Angel
Amy Blackson entered the party with wide eyes. Everywhere she looked, something was happening. On the dance floor, people were grinding on each other, over by the bar, people were swaying and drinking, over on the couches, people were making out rather feverishly. Amy blushed when she saw a guy with a hand up one girl’s shirt.
Amy turned to talk to Jace, but found that he’d already been dragged away by Valerie, directly towards the dance floor.
Dana and Ruby headed towards the bar, followed by a rather forlorn looking Brooklyn, but Amy didn’t have a clue why Brooklyn looked so sad.
Jayden followed Brooklyn, Owen saw another of his friends and jogged off, and Aiden and Amy were left standing awkwardly together on the fringe of the party.
“Um… do you wanna-” Aiden began, but before he could say anything else, a guy walked up to Amy, a tall, handsome, grinning boy.
“Hey, there.” the boy grinned, and his eyes slid up and down Amy’s body, making her blush. She’d felt so secure in her fashion choices after Jeremiah had told her how beautiful she looked, but now at the party, she felt like she had too much skin on display.
“Er… hi.” Amy replied shyly.
“Did it hurt?” the guy asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Did what hurt?” Amy wondered, confused.
“When you fell from heaven. Because, I mean, you’re obviously an angel.” the guy smirked. Amy blushed furiously. She never knew how to reply to compliments, other than her cheeks heating up and a bubbly warmth growing in her stomach.
“Wanna dance?” the guy asked, holding out a hand. A blushing Amy took it and she let herself be taken out onto the dance floor.
“So, what’s your name, angel?” the handsome boy inquired.
“Amy.” she replied, her cheeks still rosy.
“Pretty name.” he said to her, and she smiled shyly.
“What’s your name?” Amy wondered.
“I’m Nolan. It’s nice to meet you.” he said, and Amy nodded her agreement. Nolan was a little shaky on his legs, Amy noticed, but her legs weren’t doing her too great either. She had no idea how to dance at a party, and she felt clumsy and dumb.
Nolan grabbed her by the hips, and Amy squeaked in surprise until she realized he was showing her how to dance. At least they weren’t pressed together like a lot of the other dancing pairs were. Nolan put quite a lot of pressure on Amy’s hips, and she wondered if he was OK, as it looked like he was struggling to keep standing.
“Nolan, are you alright?” Amy asked worriedly.
“I-I’m fine.” he waved her off, “Jus’ had a bit too much to drink.”
Amy nodded, but she didn’t mind when he held her a little tighter. He seemed unsteady, he probably needed the tight grip on her to help him. She liked helping people, of course, so she was hardly bothered. Amy grabbed Nolan’s arms, and tried her best to keep him moving easily, though it was hard when she didn’t know how she should be moving.
Nolan’s hands on her hips started rocking back and forth, so her hips were shaking from side to side, making Amy giggle.
Nolan’s breathing was coming hard as he danced with her, and when he staggered into her, she pushed her hands up against his chest, trying to keep him upright.
“You OK?” Amy asked the suddenly much closer boy. Nolan nodded with a sluggish grin, and his arms slid around her waist as they danced.
“I’m feeling great.” Nolan said, and the current song ended, leaving everyone a little motionless on the dance floor. Then the next song started playing, and suddenly everyone was moving.
“Hey, Nolan. Let go of her.” a voice said, and Amy turned to look at Evan Simmons standing there, looking imposing.
“But I’m-” Nolan tried, but Evan shook his head.
“Drunk off your ass. Get off her.” Evan ordered, and Nolan grumbled and let go, stumbling off the dance floor.
“He wasn’t being rude or anything.” Amy told Evan, putting her hands on her hips. She wasn’t a huge fan of Evan, though she’d admit she was strongly biased because of Jace.
“I know, I was more worried about him throwing up on you.” Evan replied with a grin. Amy laughed.
“Guess I’m going to go find Jace or something, then.” Amy said.
“Don’t you want to dance? I’ll be a much better dancer than he was.” Evan promised. Amy hesitated, but then she nodded slowly.

The Shy Showstopper
Brooklyn Robinson sat sadly on a couch, with Jayden sitting beside her.
“I can’t believe Jace just raced off with Val so quickly. Didn’t even say a word to me. Or, uh, anyone.” Brooklyn hastily amended her statement. No one knew about her crush on Jace, and Brooklyn sure wasn’t going to spill the beans to her brother, of all people.
She just… she was really hurt. The recent weeks had felt amazing, like Jace was finally noticing her. He’d bought her her favorite sunglasses, though they definitely weren’t her favorite just because he’d gotten them for her, no way.
Then there was the time alone they kept having. The talks, the smiles, the joking. Brooklyn had let herself start thinking he loved her, he cared about her.
Then Valerie Barnes had barreled into her life like a train and there was Brooklyn, tied to the tracks and unable to cry for help, like it was an old silent movie.
Val hadn’t even ever really looked at Brooklyn, she’d just come in and snatched Jace from her without barely caring. What kind of girl did that? Brooklyn fretted probably too much about what every girl in the room was doing in regards to Jace. She wished she had Val’s confidence to just stroll in and take what she wanted. The problem was that what Val wanted was what Brooklyn wanted, so Brooklyn couldn’t learn from Val’s courage because Val’s courage was actively working against Brooklyn.
She’d only ever be an imitation of Val, and not a great one. Brooklyn knew she wasn’t the prettiest girl around, but being beaten out by a junior girl stung. Sure, Val and Jace were only a week or two apart in age, but they were separated by a grade level, and that meant a lot in Brooklyn’s head. Some sad part of Brooklyn’s head tonight glumly that Brooklyn might get to spend some time with Jace again in college next year, as there’d be no Val there.
“Yeah, he seemed pretty into her.” Jayden nodded, and Brooklyn’s heart clenched. Even Jayden had noticed Jace was into Val? Her heart seemed to physically ache with the pain, and she could only lament from the sidelines while Val got to be the star of the show, dazzling while hanging off Jace’s arm.
“Yeah, he did.” Brooklyn mumbled.
Jayden signed and looked around a bit, but Brooklyn didn’t pay that much mind, she just looked down miserably at her clasped hands.
It came as a surprise when Jayden put his hand on hers. She looked at him, and he looked back at her with the same brown eyes she had.
“Forget about Jace.” Jayden said firmly, and Brooklyn felt her cheeks heating. Her little brother did know about her crush. He must think she was pathetic, too scared to go after Jace.
“I can’t.” Brooklyn shook her head.
“Sure you can. Come dance with me.” Jayden said, and he looked really nervous all of a sudden, which confused Brooklyn, but she didn’t linger on it.
“I don’t know, Jay-Jay.” Brooklyn sighed.
“Come on, it’ll be fun. Help take your mind off things.” Jayden tried again.
Brooklyn reluctantly nodded.
“Alright, let’s try it.” Brooklyn relented.
“Great. If you’re not having fun, just tell me, and we can stop.” Jayden said earnestly, and Brooklyn smiled warmly at her thoughtful little brother.
“I love you.” Brooklyn told him, and she felt warm and happy when he told her that he loved her back.
She leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“Come on, let’s go dance.” Brooklyn said, and she tried her best to push Jace out of her head, and focus on Jayden. He was trying so hard to make her feel better, she at least owed him her full attention.
