The Guard and the Oddity
It sucked.
Drew gave another sharp growl as she punched the iron bar in front of her, and then clutching her hand in pain. Sure, it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, trying to sneak into a elf-city (and punching the bar). Even if she didn't have the 'proper documentation', did that mean the law had to be stingy enough to capture her on sight without question when they found her trying to steal a loaf of bread from a stand?
…yeah, they probably had to.
Taking in another deep breath, she did her best to ignore the gnawing pain from her stomach, the failed bread-snatching also meaning she'd gone without food for three days now. "I'll be skin and bones at this rate," she grumbled, rubbing her stomach as she turned to look in the mirror again.
Her hunger really was taking a toll on her now. Her originally pronounced cheekbones were even sharper now; her blue eyes were sunken from fitful nights of sleep, tormented by her stomach. Even her blonde cat ears and hair looked more ruffled than usual…
She looked downright miserable.
Feeling her stomach grumble, Drew bit her bottom lip again as she sat down on the bed in the cell, curling her knees to her chest in an effort to ignore the pain. "Remain vigilant," she thought, staring at the iron door to her cell as she curled her tail around her. "Wait for the chance to escape…and take it," she mumbled, trying to ignore the softness of the mattress.
But the pillow looked so soft…
