The Grounds

Here is a map, orientated with North being at the top, of Cockshoots Hall Grounds. It marks the boundaries of the property as distinct from the boundaries of the estate which covers approximately one square mile. The map is 2500 feet wide and 2000 feet long with the resolution being 20 feet.

Notes

The stone wall varies in height but is never less than 6 feet usually with thorns and nettles against it to deter would be climbers. If a trespasser is unlucky enough to be detected by any of the house staff, there's a strong possibility they will soon have a gun pointed at them.

The woods are very dense and full of animals and unique wild flowers. It is advised that guests do not enter the woods unaccompanied and it is requested the the indoor servants do not do so without a member of the family, Frank, Ada, a member of the outdoor staff or Flora. The wooded area to the north is known as Small Cockshoots Wood; the area to the south, Big Cockshoots Wood; and the less dense group of trees to the west is just known as Cocks Copse.

The scrubland, which is full of burrows, is available for walks up the hill only during daylight unless you want to risk being shot as a poacher. During shoots animals are flushed out of the woods by dogs or encouraged to leave their burrows, so there is a variety of game to kill.

The stream which runs down the scrubland, not quite as directly as appears on the map, is forcibly split in two, one part running behind the servant's annex, providing fresh water for laundry, and the other crossing to the right via an ornamental pool before making its way behind the right side of the house with a gentler slope. The 'secret' pool beloved of Angelica also drains into this stream.

The lake behind the hose has a couple of rowing boats moored at the pier. The Earl intends to keep some goats in a movable enclosure by the lake, although it is likely they will manage to escape. On occasion the Earl or one of his family may request that the area between the lake and the South of the house is off limits due to concern for any model's modesty.

The gardeners and handyman sleep in a hut on the right of the Gatehouse. The gamekeeper's cottage is on the edge of the woods just around the corner from the servant's annex.
