Chapter 17

New Allies
The God of the Overworld
"You know of me," the being states with a deep, resonant voice. And he was right, Jeff had heard stories and legends of who this being was but he never thought he would encounter it. His mouth becomes dry, "Your...really..."
"Yes, mortal," he responds with eyes glowing with amusement.
"I...am Herobrine, or rather the best approximation of him. Your kind struggles to understand what I truly am. I take the form that fits your mind." He gestures towards the interior, "May I come in?"
"Sure, I guess..." As Herobrine glides into the home, Jeff does a quick glance at Kim who is on her feet, armed and armored. There hadn't been enough time to fix her armor fully or forge new armor to replace it. She wore her slightly damaged leather patched with woven leaves and a new bow using the string of the spider they had killed. Her stance was passive but ready to inflict ****, arrows in hand and bow at the ready.
Herobrine tilts his head to the left side at the sight, "No need for hostilities. I have not come for your souls. I require your assistance." His movement mimiced player movement but it was as if he wasn't touching the floor. He made no noise when he moved. He stopped in front of the workbench and sat upon it. Still no noise, as if he wasn't really there at all.
"Jeff Laciter and Kim Madeson. You have unlocked your memories and are ready to hear my words. I must first introduce myself fully to you both." He gestures towards the bedroll. "Would you like me to dispose of those?" Jeff looks at Kim, "We can handle that later. First things first." To this, Herobrine bows from his seat, then returns upright, "I am Herobrine as you call me, keeper of the Overworld and reaper of the souls of the fallen. By my hand, souls are reborn and life renewed for both monster and man."
He lifts his right hand, palm upraised. Light flows out of the hand to form images, "There is one among this land that has stopped the flow of rebirth. He tampers with the fabric of this world for his amusement. Souls that fall cannot be reborn and remain in the land of the dead. If this cycle of failed rebirth continues, souls will remain souls and I will cease to exist." He closes his hand and the light fades, "We talk of the end of worlds. This is the end of the Overworld if allowed to happen. Only the living can acknowledge my existence, not the souls of the dead. And so I come to you two." He points at them both with his hand, "You must seek each of the Gods of the Realms and obtain their blessing. Only then will you be strong enough to face this new threat."
He opens his other hand, his left, to reveal a red orb. "You know what this is, Jeff." Jeff looks at the item in horror, "No....it cant be...this can't be real...SHE isn't real!..." Herobrine remains passive, "This is the Eye of Galgador and it is now yours, just as the Eye of Ender was yours." Herobrine remains motionless with the orb, "But you must take it from me. I cannot give it to you. By taking the first eye, you bound yourself to this quest. You cannot falter now."
Despite the horror and denial, Jeff slowly walks towards Herobrine to take the orb. His right hand is trembling as he touches the smooth, orange-red surface. Herobrine smiles, or what passes as a smile, "She is the next blessing you need, Jeff the dragonkin. You know her true name."
Jeff picks up the orb and holds it in his hand, eyes locked on the item, "Galgadora Ghastalamas...the nether queen..."
