The Flight is Joyful

She peered out over the vast stretches of the american southwest contemplating her future and her peculiar situation in time and space. Another part of her, the rational part, mused to herself that immortality is essentially achievable now. Humans had been striving from it's infancy to fuse our mortal ambition with the span of eons and not just decades.

She had taken off early in the morning and she could see the sun peeking over the horizon. A radiant sense of optimism filled her mind and body. She began fantasizing about what she could do with all that time and money... and this new body.

She closed her eyes gently and drifted off to sleep...

KA-CHUNK! She groggily opened her eyes as the plane touched down on the runway. She gathered her on board luggage and huddled in a line out of the plane and to baggage claim.

She returned home late in the afternoon and went straight to the bathroom. She surveyed the ruined landscape of a life past lived but no longer applicable. Lots of orange plastic bottles. Ripped and scattered pieces of soiled tissues littering the edges of the sink.

She efficiently started the process of cleaning first the bathroom, then the living room, and finally her bedroom. Tired from an afternoon of housework she flopped into her favorite easy chair with a case of beer and some cheddar snacks and flipped on the television. Maybe by fate or luck her cutting edge doctors were being talked about on the news.

It turned out he wasn't the only one that had successfully undergone the treatment, he was just the only one whose treatment had gone wrong. According to the anchor, they had dozens of subjects that had a 100% survival rate and essentially had been genetically reverted to their prime age - around 20 to 25. The acclaim seemed to be universal, much talk of the nobel prize.
