What's next?
The End.
Bartholomew, Kara, and Kal were walking down the street, not knowing what to say to each other.
Bartholomew decided to start the conversation…
"So, you two are from Krypton, as well?" Bartholomew asked them softly. So, the people walking past them wouldn't hear it. But he didn't know if they would hear it, as well…
"Yeah, so your a regular human?" Kara asked him, not knowing what else to ask.
"Yeah, since birth." Bartholomew jokes, breaking the tension between them.
"Do you know that Kara is like my Mommy?" Kal asked Bartholomew.
"Oh, she takes care of you?" Bartholomew asked the young boy.
"Yeah… so are you gonna be my Daddy now?" Kal asked the Scarlet Archer, which made Bartholomew and Kara blush at the question.
"Kinda," Bartholomew replied to the boy.
"What's your name?" Kara asked him
"Barry, Barry Allen." Bartholomew said to her.
"I know that but why do I, I-I mean why does the other me call you Bartholomew?" Kara asked him.
"Because your doppelganger didn't want to get me mixed up with the love of her life." Bartholomew said, with slight jealousy but somehow managing to keep a straight face.
"Why does it have to happen to us?" Kara asked him.
"What? What do you mean?" Bartholomew asked her.
"Liking somebody we can't have." Kara answered.
"I don't know…" Bartholomew began, "Maybe it's because 'fate' is a cruel mistress…" Bartholomew trailed off.
"But what if 'fate' just set things on the right track?" Kara asked him.
"Did you like the other me?" Bartholomew asked, "Because he was a quitter. He didn't fight for his Kara…"
"Yeah, but you don't get to judge a book by its cover. Even if he's your doppelganger, he might have a different history than you, maybe even more tragic." Kara reasoned to him.
"Well, I wish I didn't have to brow-beat him into going with the woman who loved him, that's all." Bartholomew justified himself.
Before they knew it, they are at the entrance of Kara's apartment.
"You know, I'm going to have to get a job somewhere, so I can provide for you two." Bartholomew mentioned.
"Why? I make enough money for the two of us, you don't need to provide for us." Kara asked him, confused.
"Well, you're providing for three, now. You, Kal and me...Do you have enough?" Bartholomew asked her.
"No, but you just have to provide for yourself, no need for us to be your burden." Kara said quickly to him.
"I don't know what kind of job, I should get to provide for myself, because on another world, I worked for my friend, Oliver Queen." Bartholomew said.
"You are friends with that asshole?" Kara asked him, bitterly.
"Well, on my world, Oliver would just pretend to be an asshole because it was all a cover to protect his secret identity as the Arrow on my Earth." Bartholomew said.
"Sorry, we dated back in college for three years and he cheated on me with my best friend, Laurel." Kara explained herself.
"Yeah," Bartholomew began, "He did that on my planet, too. But he was stuck on an island for three years and he became a changed man." Bartholomew reasoned to her.
"Well, I hope the Oliver of this Earth will experience that, just because he is handsome, cute, charming and hot…" Kara trailed off, dreamily before continuing, "Doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants." She added quickly.
"You know, with the way you babble, you remind me of Oliver's girlfriend Felicity Smoak." Bartholomew said without thinking.
"Can you please go back to your Earth and warn this Felicity?" Kara joked with Barry.
"Well, I don't think she needs it, Felicity has Oliver wrapped around her finger, he'd do anything for her." Bartholomew told Kara.
"That was a joke, Barry. I mean Bartholomew or Bart, whatever you want to be called. I don't know." Kara babbled mindlessly.
"You can call me whatever you want, hell you can even refer to me by my surname if you want to." Barry said, "Oliver did." he mentioned.
"What about just Barry, it's easier to remember." Kara said to him, "Or not if you don't want to, I can just call you like Arsenal or something…" Kara trailed off.
"As long as you don't confuse me with my doppelganger, it's fine." Barry told Kara.
"Mommy, I'm hungry." Kal whined at Kara.
"And what do you want me to call you, son?" Barry asked Kal.
"Just Kal or Clark, Dad." Kal answered politely.
"Clark do you like pizza?" Barry asked him, "Because I do." Barry told Clark.
"I do too, but Kara always wants potstickers and sticky buns." Clark said with a pout.
Barry reached into his pockets, looking for money and he pulled out a hundred dollar bill.
"Does this Earth have the same currency as my world, Kara?" Barry asked showing her the one hundred bill pulled from his pocket.
"Yeah, but we don't have the same value because you are a billionaire right now." Kara replied in awe.
"Let's get the pizza and the potstickers to go, and bring them back here." Barry suggested.
"Okay," Kara replied, "Let's go." she told Barry and Kal.
"Hey, just a quick reminder we both need to eat 10,000 calories per day." Kara said to Barry with a blush, ashamed of their stomachs.
"You don't need to keep in shape the way an ordinary human being, does, do you?" Barry asked them.
"No, we're basically stuck in this shape." Kara said to him.
"Okay," Barry began, "Let's see how far this Hundred Dollar Bill will take us with the pizzas." Barry said to them.
"Just order 20 boxes of pizza and 30 boxes of potstickers and 15 sticky buns." Kara said to him, "You will still have a lot of change."
"Okay," Barry said, "I don't know if they deliver so I'll be on my way then." he told them.
"Sure, you need me to come with you?" Kara asked him, worried that he may get lost.
"Should we bring Kal with us? Will he be alright here alone?" Barry asked concerned for Kal.
"We're not going on a date, of course Kal can come with us." Kara said with a smirk.
Barry opened the door to the outside of the apartment and gestured for them to go first.
"Can Daddy pick me up?" Kal asked his cousin.
"If that's alright with you, Kara." Barry told her.
"Of course it's fine with me, why wouldn't it be fine with me? We just look like a family that's all." Kara nervously replied.
"Because, I wouldn't want you to get embarrassed when people assume that I'm dating you. I'm very considerate that way." Barry mentioned offhandedly.
"Um, thanks." Kara muttered with a slight blush creeping up her cheeks.
Barry wordlessly picked up Kal-El and held him like he was his son while saying, "I've never thought I'd become a father figure," Barry said without thinking.
"Well, I never thought that I would become a mother figure." Kara told him with a shrug.
Barry walked down the corridor with Kal-El in his arms and he opened the entrance door to the apartment building and said, "After you." to Kara.
"I thought you don't want to be assumed as my boyfriend? Then why are you doing this?" Kara asked him with a smile and a blush.
"That doesn't mean I don't have manners, Kara." Barry said simply.
"Oh right, sorry." Kara said, sheepishly.
Barry gestured for her to go first and waited for her to walk out before following her.
"So what grade is Kal in?" Barry asked the Kryptonian woman.
"First grade." Kara said simply.
"Did he skip the other grade? Because he is still a toddler and he's already a first grader." Barry said to her.
"He's very smart for his age, Barry but he doesn't have very good social skills, so he doesn't have any friends." Kara mentioned, sadly.
"I think the other kids are probably jealous of his intelligence, because they probably struggle to learn things that come naturally to Kal." Barry said in thought as he psycho-analyzed the situation.
"And how would you know that? Did the same thing happen to you when you were still a kid?" Kara asked him, confused.
"No it didn't. But as I grew older, I became good at reading people, and I'm a natural detective. Oliver has always been jealous of my detective abilities." Barry said to Kara.
"Oliver Queen? Jealous? I'd love to see that one personally." Kara said to him while laughing.
"Well, I have always been jealous of Oliver's ability to get the girl, because frankly women think I'm too nice and they want a bad boy." Barry said, bitterly.
"Don't give up hope, maybe the right girl is just waiting for you to come into her life now. Plus, you said it yourself, you hate a quitter." Kara teased him.
"Well, I wanted Felicity and the other Kara, but it didn't quite work out that way, I mean you can't **** somebody to like you, can you?" Barry asked her.
"Yeah, you can't but you teach them to love you." Kara said to him.
"To be honest, I've always hidden away that part of myself. The **** side of myself behind anger, because it's easier this way. I'm not very good at expressing my feelings." Barry admitted to Kara.
"Well, at least you can hug someone really tight and you wouldn't break their back, or at least you can be with someone that you love without fearing that they might know that you're an alien." Kara said to him as a tear fell down her eyes.
Barry wiped the tears away from her eyes and gave Kara a reassuring smile.
"Sorry about that. I-I need to finish work at home, see you guys later." Kara said quickly then ran back to the apartment.
"I embarrassed her, Kal." Barry said guiltily as he continued to walk down the street, looking for the pizza place and potsticker and sticky bun places.
"I forgive you, Dad. Mommy just needs to be alone, right now." Kal said to him in an understanding voice.
Barry nodded his head and went to get the food for all of them. What he couldn't carry he had delivered back to their apartment.
"Hey Kara, we're home." Barry yelled out.
"I'm in the bathroom, I'll be right there!" Kara exclaimed.
The bathroom door opened and the steam, that was locked up inside, emanated from it and a wet Kara, that is wrapped in a towel, emerged from the steam.
Barry blushed at the sight and smiled at her.
"Barry! Barry, you're staring!" Kara called out to him.
"Oh! Sorry! It's been a long time since I've seen something so beautiful." Barry said aloud without thinking as he averted his eyes from Kara.
"Thanks." Kara whispered while looking away from Barry because of the blush.
Barry opened a set of paper plates he brought home along the way, and asked Kal, "Which one do you want to start out with, cheese or pepperoni?" Barry asked the toddler.
"Both." Kal replied excitedly.
Barry put half of the cheese pizza on his plate and the other of his plate had half of the pepperoni pizza.
"Just potstickers and sticky buns for me." Kara said to him.
Barry gave Kara two plates, one full of potstickers and the other full of sticky buns.
"Thanks, what are you getting for yourself?" Kara asked him.
"Nothing, I'll need to patrol the streets." Barry said to them while grabbing his quiver and bow, "See you two in the morning," Barry told them before leaving the apartment from the window and jumping from rooftop to rooftop, searching for any criminal activity.
"Do you like Dad, Mommy?" Kal asked Kara.
"Yes, but don't tell him yet, Kal. I have no idea if he feels the same way, yet." Kara told her cousin in a hushed manner.
"Do you really have super eyesight? Because Dad really likes you too." Kal said to her.
"He's still getting over the other Kara who rejected him, Kal-El." Kara replied sadly.
"I don't understand, what do you mean?" Kal asked her.
"Do you remember that woman who came here looking for another man named Barry? The archer liked that woman but she didn't like him back." Kara replied as simply as she could to her cousin/son Kal-El.
Kal nodded his head, finally understanding the situation that just happened today.
A knock interrupted the two cousin's moment.
Kara went to the door and opened it. She saw Oliver Queen standing in front of her.
"What are you doing here?" Kara asked him, aggressively.
"Didn't you watch the news!? I've been stuck on an island for the last five years and I've wanted to see you, that's all." Oliver explained himself.
Barry decided to come home at that moment and he was at the corner when he overheard the conversation and decided to hide there.
"You know, I've met two doppelgangers of a man named Barry Allen and one of them is friends with you on another Earth." Kara decided to tell Oliver. Not knowing why she's saying this…
"I don't understand what you're saying, Karr'" Oliver told his ex-girlfriend.
"Don't you call me that! And haven't you heard of the
theory of the Multiverse?" Kara asked incredulously.
Barry has to bite his lower lip to prevent himself from embarrassing Kara and telling her to keep her mouth shut.
"Anyway, that doesn't matter what matters is that I like him but Barry is still getting over being rejected by another woman." Kara said sadly.
"He doesn't love you the way I do, Kara. I'm sorry for cheating on you but can we at least try this again?" Oliver asked her, while taking her hand in his.
"Y-you're not going to be busy being a vigilante called The Arrow, are you?" Kara asked him.
"I was going to, but I'll do anything to win you back." Oliver said to her, sweetly.
Barry was fuming in anger and jealousy and decided to make his presence known and walked around the corner. He didn't get greeted by Kara, Kal or Oliver on his way, he just walked inside the apartment, coldly.
Barry grabbed Oliver and pinned him up against the wall and said, "You don't deserve her!"
Oliver, using the martial arts that he learned in his time in Hong Kong and the island, countered Barry's attack and punched him in the face.
Barry staggered backwards and pulled out his bow and arrow and drew the string back and yelled, "You have just failed this city!"
"BARRY! DON'T DO THIS! YOU'RE NOT A MURDERER!" Kara yelled out.
"But I am." Barry said, darkly as he drew the string farther.
"Dad? What is going on?" Kal asked the Scarlet Archer.
"H-he's trying to take your mother away from me!" Barry exclaimed.
Kal hid behind Kara's back and yelled, "You're not my father!"
Barry suddenly realized what he was doing and ran away from the apartment, jumping out the window and jumping from rooftop to rooftop, just running, trying to get lost...
Oliver got into his suit and ran after Barry with his bow and arrows.
Barry ran to the pier and jumped into the ocean. Not caring if he drowned.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Oliver asked with his voice modulator.
Barry didn't say anything, he just let himself sink to the bottom of the ocean.
"Take my hand! Grab it!" Oliver said while holding out his hand.
"You've heard him, I'm not the boy's father anymore...you are." Barry said somberly.
Oliver jumped in after Barry and swam him back to shore but not before knocking him out.
Kara and Kal flew into the pier and saw the **** and wet Barry and a wet and exhausted Oliver.
"He tried to kill himself when he realized what he was about to do…" Oliver trailed off sadly.
"Is it my fault, Mommy?" Kal asked while tearing up.
"He said that he wasn't the boy's father anymore, that I am." Oliver said sadly.
Barry woke up and he immediately knew he survived and searched his pockets for the Inter-Dimensional Extrapolator.
He found it and he pressed the button and was about to jump into the portal when...
"Dad! Where are you going?!" Kal exclaimed.
"I'm not your father, Kal." Barry said to the boy, "He is," Barry then pointed his fingers at Oliver before jumping into the breach.
"Oh, God." Kara exclaimed before crying her eyes out.
Earth-38
Barry-6 landed in the apartment of Barry-38 and Kara-38 and it was morning.
Bartholomew quietly left the apartment, letting himself out and decided to go back to his apartment and look for his car, and drive away from National City. Not caring about where he was going, he was looking to get lost.
"Bartholomew? What are you doing here?" Barry asked him as he bumped into him on his way to his apartment.
Bartholomew shook his head at Barry and simply walked away from him. He didn't want to talk to his doppelganger, he wanted to either get lost or commit suicide.
"Hey! Is something wrong?" Barry asked while catching up to his doppelganger, worried about him.
"Bring Kara out here," Bartholomew began, "I don't wanna have to explain myself twice." Bartholomew ordered Barry.
"Well, I am on my way to mine and Kara's apartment, can we go there instead?" Barry asked him.
Bartholomew nodded his head and proceeded to follow Barry.
Barry and Kara's Apartment
Barry and Kara were sitting on the couch while Bartholomew is pacing back and forth, not knowing how to start.
"Kara," Bartholomew began, "Earth-6's Kara had a visit from Earth-6's Oliver Queen, long story short I've screwed things up between me, her and young Kal-El and I don't know how to fix it." Bartholomew explained.
"Why? What happened? Does Kara and Oliver have a relationship there?" Barry asked through his gritted teeth.
"Kara dated Oliver for three years in college. He cheated on her with Kara's best friend, Laurel and he was stuck on an island for five years and he wanted to make things work between them." Bartholomew said.
After some silence, Bartholomew said, "I'm sorry, by the way. I judged you because I thought that you are a quitter but here I am, doing the same thing." He said it, genuinely.
"I forgive you, Bartholomew." Barry said genuinely.
Bartholomew sighed before he said, "I've tried to **** Earth-6 Oliver in front of young Kal and Earth-6 Kara while saying to Oliver, "You have just failed this city," but he didn't, I failed them." Bartholomew said sadly.
"I'm sure that Kara will forgive you but if you want, you can stay here for a while." Kara offered to him.
"I've told Kal that Oliver was trying to take his mother away from me, and he said, "You're not my father." Bartholomew said sadly.
A breach opened and out-stepped a teary-eyed Kara and a crying Kal-El.
"What?" Bartholomew began, "What are you two doing here!?" Bartholomew asked incredulously.
"We came for you, me and Kal." Kara-6 said to him.
"You don't want me in your life." Bartholomew began, "I'm a murderer." Bartholomew said sadly.
"And Oliver isn't?" Kara asked him, knowing she had him cornered.
Bartholomew shook his head and simply walked over to them and said, "I don't know how you got here but I'm glad you're here, and I'm sorry for scaring you, Kal. I didn't mean to." Bartholomew said sadly.
"It's fine, I forgive you… Dad." Kal said then ran towards Bartholomew and hugged him.
Bartholomew returned the hug and kissed Kal on the cheek.
"Dad, I love you." Kal said to Bartholomew.
"I-We love you too, son." Barry said to Kal while glancing at Kara.
"I love you too, Barry." Kara-6 said to Barry-6.
"Y-you still do?" Barry asked her.
"Not you, I meant Bartholomew," Kara-6 began, "I just call him Barry because it's easier to pronounce." Kara-6 explained herself.
"I love you too, Kara." Barry-Bartholomew said to Kara-6.
"Let's go home, Barry." Kara-6 began, "I'm hungry." she told him.
They jumped through the portal and went back to Earth-6 National City and they lived happily ever after.
