The Docks

The Docks were located not far from the Westmere campus grounds. Right along the river, the whole place had plenty of large shipping containers spread out.

The whole place was eerie. It was lit up by street lights and the nearby city lights glistened on the surface of the river water.

Standing there with some of his teammates, Mark watched on as more of a spectator. He just hoped that this wouldn’t get out of hand any further.

They were just metres away from some of the Westmead football boys. Although the whole thing seemed absolutely bizarre to Mark, everyone else seemed to act like this was a normal occurrence to happen. An on-field dispute that ended in the two sides solving the issue off the field in a not so nice manner.

The guy that Dixon had tackled after his touchdown was known as Lachlan Patterson. He had short dark black hair, a big contrast to Dixon’s long brown mullet. He stood at the front, waiting for Dixon to make the first move.

“So? You called us down to the docks bitch, just going to stand here now?” Dixon asked him.

“You’re calling me a bitch? After your weak ass bitch move after the play,” Patterson was quick to reply.

Dixon was the sort of guy that could go off at any second. He was foul to say the least. Listening to the two argue, Mark had a bad feeling about where this was going.

“You’re the real coward pal, you’re out of your league here,” Dixon said.

The small talk was getting old for Patterson, he shook his head before taking a couple of slow steps forward while speaking, “You’re about to get fucked up you little faggot!”

As soon as he said that word, Dixon whipped open his red varsity jacket, revealing he had a gun sitting in the front of his jeans. A chorus of surprised gasps could be heard from the Westmere boys, Patterson had stopped dead in his tracks.

Dixon wasn’t stopping there, it wasn’t just for show. The maniac pulled it out of his jeans and pointed it directly at Patterson. “Not so tough now are you?”

Patterson started to back off immediately. This was one fight that was not worth losing his life over. “Okay. Okay. Okay. Take it easy, we’re leaving.”

The entire group of Westmere boys backed away slowly as Dixon held the gun pointed at them. Eventually they started leaving the docks as quick as they could leaving the rest of the boys here shocked.

“Jesus fucking Christ Man!” Bryce finally said once the Westmere boys had disappeared, “What the fuck have you got that here for??”

Dixon put his gun back down the front of his jeans, double checking the safety was on. “About time those fuckers see who they’re messing with.”

Nobody from the Eagles side was happy about their teammate pulling out a gun. If he had have been reckless with it, he could have killed someone and got them all in serious trouble.

“You were going to shoot him??” another one of the boys asked panicked.

“No. Only would have if he came at me. It’s self defence.”

The boys didn’t know what to say. This guy was insane. Seriously scary.

The fact that he would pull out a gun on somebody over a fight he started was incredibly messed up. Mark kept this all in mind for the future, just incase he found himself in another verbal or physical altercation with Dixon.

Mark felt like he was in a dream or something, it was that messed up for him. Going home that night, Mark started to realise yet another reason why he liked to hang out with the girls.

Someone like Winter or Tiffany sure weren’t going to pull out a gun on someone.
