The Black man awakens.

Shortly after Keith had left Ginny went to check on the **** black man. He was still lying by the fire all covered up in the blankets, but now he was moving. Virginia quickly ran over to him and knelt down on one knee to make sure he was ok. The man opened his eyes and looked in to her face.

He smiled and said, "Am I in heaven?"

Ginny laughed out loud. "No, this is not heaven. It is however the Garnet's Pass Rescue Station. My name is Virginia, my husband and I run this place," she said.

"Where is your husband?" the man asked.

"Oh, he just went out to check on a few things. He'll probably be back in a little less than an hour," Ginny answered.

The handsome black male smiled at her. "I am Marcus Green," He told her.

"It's nice to meet you Marcus, is there anything I can get you? Are you hungry?" she asked.

"The pleasure is ALL mine," he said. "I would love something to eat, it seems like days since I last ate."

Virginia made up a warm bowl of condensed soup for the man and they sat at the kitchen table in silence. He spooned the soup into his mouth very quickly. After finishing the soup he drank the juice Ginny had brought for him.

"So Marcus, what brings you to our neck of the woods?" Virginia asked.

The man hesitated then replied, "business."

Disappointed with the one word answer, Ginny pressed on. "Where are you headed?"

Again there was a long pause. "May I have my clothes back? I really need to get on my way," he said.

"Sure, let me go fetch them for you." Virginia said as she stood up.

Quickly she left the room. Once inside the next room and out of Marcus's sight she let out a deep breath. Ginny was a little scared of being alone with this man. He was very intimidating and if Keith was there she wouldn't have cared, but he still hadn't returned. Virginia picked up Marcus's clothing and turned to head back to the kitchen. She stopped quickly when she saw the radio on the small table next to the window.

Ginny picked up the microphone and held in the speak button.

"This is Virginia from Garnet's Pass Rescue, come in please," she said.

There was no response, so she tried again.

"This is Virginia at Garnet's Pass Rescue Station, Please come in," she spoke desperately.

Again there was no response. Ginny looked down at the radio and noticed that the green power light was not lit up. She bent over to check the power cord and it was still plugged in. There was no power outage since the lights of the cabin where still all on. The radio was dead.

Ginny almost jumped in fright when she heard Marcus from the next room. "Do you need any help in there?" he shouted.
