Chapter 22 by dawan dawan

What are you and Tom doing?

That same night about 40 miles away

You and Tom had a long week waiting to get to see your girls. You hadn't talked to your best friend Bobby since Sunday but assume he is busy with Amber. In your phone and text messages with Ashley she said she didn't want to date you if you remain a poor dumb ass. You were doing more work for your Uncle all this week. You have been studying harder this week as well. You were a wrestler through ninth grade and used to care about getting good grades. Your coach was fired and you, Bobby, and some others thought it was for bull shit reasons and quit. The new coach was later caught sleeping with the female athletic director. Both were married (not to each other) and fired, but the damage was done to the program and Green River High School has had a horrible wrestling team for the past two years.

Ashley looks happy to see her High School Man. This is her tongue in cheek pet name for you. You are actually older than her by two weeks, but you were held back before kindergarten because you were very sick when assessed by the public school officials and did not score well. Ashley was 17 years old her first three weeks of college. Tom has got a new cell phone and through Ashley got in contact with the Asian girl from the party. Her name is Lui Shen and she is an eighteen year old freshman and setter on the Volleyball team. Lui is standing next to Ashley as you and Tom pull up to the Admin Building at Woocott, in your van.

Tom and Lui went off to some unknown part of the campus. Ashley directs you to some roads that lead out of Woocottville and away from Woocott Institute. After you go about ten miles, Ashley has you turn off onto a dirt road. It ends shortly in front of a run down farm house. This place belongs to distant relatives of Ashley and they asked her look after it while she is at college. They are a childless couple in their early 50's and planned to fix it up and live there in the summer when they retire. It is a great place for her to escape from the strictness of Woocott Institute. Woocott is very strict during the week, having quiet times and even curfews for ALL students. After their last class on Friday the students can leave campus until 8:00 Sunday night. Student athletes, like Lui, have stricter rules, but most sneak out and find other ways around the rules. You and Ashley are going to watch the Woocott Institute Fighting Angels Volleyball Team take on Lowlands Technical College tomorrow with Tom to cheer the Angels on, especially Lui.
