John decided that if Lisa wanted to play hardball he would break her down. Slowly, methodically, until she was completely his. But he had to feign apologies for now.

The next morning he replied:

Lisa fair I fear I've erred
a thousand apologies I offer
I was over-stressed, and not prepared
To accept the suggestion you did proffer
If you will agree, we'll go out another time
It will all be entirely on my dime
You choose the place
My wallet can accommodate expensive tastes
You choose the time, and date
And I will promise not to be late
