Tarantula RS, modular unit

For the more **** tasks, the Tarantula design is quite possibly the hardiest of them all. As its namesake implies, the Tarantula's eight-legged frame provides the largest heavy load platform Yabusa can offer, itself almost the size of a car! Designed to be phasebound to a biological upper-half just like the Mustang frame, the taur-like structure of the Tarantula RS means a person has a lot of control over the heavy frame without disappearing fully into the machine.

The frame is broken up into three sections--the front component is where the phasebound user resides, leading the whole of the sleek metallic body. The central segment is known as the submodule compartment, easily reachable by the user of the frame, such as for storage or for secondary control devices. The back portion is the main module, which is where the flexibility of the Tarantula really comes into play. Main modules are massive structures, large enough that they could be full substitutes for typical machinery found on a construction site.

The variants of main modules for a Tarantula user is mind boggling, with dozens of modules for various fields. Various construction-based structures, heavy load carriers, cement mixers or storage units make up the bulk of Tarantula main modules. Other popular units, such as heating or refrigeration units, open up the possibility of becoming a walking equivalent of a food truck! One of the most useful modules is the mobile medical unit, able to carry a small operating room module on the back of the Tarantula to remote locations. Working on a team, a Tarantula can provide support on nearly any task, and multiple Tarantulas with different modules loaded makes their supporting role even more flexible.

The eight legs have various other interesting configurations as well. Two legs can combine into a wheel each for faster movement on paved roads, and four legs can combine for a tread on each side, providing a variety of options. With a special armored front module, a Tarantula unit could basically become a mobile artillery machine, if the situation calls for it. Most users tend to prefer the construction aspect, however, so Tarantula units have begun popping up across Spiral City for new architecture sites, with enough main modules that a crew of 2-3 Yabusa phasebound machines could be the entire crew for a moderately-sized construction project.

Since the Mustang was the design that the Tarantula was based from, manual control capability is still contained within the unit. Controllers hidden in the frame allow for remotely moving not just the mechanical portions of the Tarantula, but also the biological. This is particularly helpful for training purposes, as training units--people phasebound into a submodule with control capability--can directly command Tarantula RS users in order to quickly bring them up to speed on a given project.
