Chapter 3 by hyehyehyehye hyehyehyehye

What do I do?

Talk to her, duh!

Yeah, I might not ever make it on Jeopardy, but even I know this one.

"Oh, n-no it's not a problem." I said with all the social grace of a dying hyena. Whoops. In my defense, this has been a very weird morning, and I was still recovering from the substantial amount of 'what the fuck?' that I had been subjected to in the past half hour. She smiled, at least, giving me a clear look for the first time at her emerald-green eyes as she passed me a thankful glance. Reaching into the smallest pouch on her bag, she pulled out her phone and a pair of earbuds as I fumbled for something to say.

"Are you new? I'm John." I said, turning my head towards her and trying hard not to stare.

"Not to GVHS, but I just moved this Summer, so new bus. Were you in Mr. Stone's for pre-calc last year? I'm Nina."

Oh? Oh. Yes, I was. Was she? I vaguely recalled a few quiet people in that class, but I sat up front because I needed glasses, and by the time I'd gotten contacts the seating chart was all made up. I could forgive myself for not noticing her, but I still kicked myself internally.

"Oh, yeah, I was. I remember you, I think. That means you're a senior too, right? Do you know your schedule?"

We quickly found out that we'd be sharing five out of our nine classes together. Awesome. With one earbud in, and one side left free for conversation, we compared notes about what we'd heard of our new teachers. That not being much, I was surprised when the bus pulled into Green Valley High School before we ran out of things to talk about. Stepping out, I saw her peer around the back of the bus out into student parking before she got excited.

"Oh! There's Dayna. I'll see you later John!" she called out, rushing behind the bus and out into the lot.

Stay a moment, or go to homeroom?
