It'd be better not to let something like this go unaddressed. Mysteries only cause problems. "Miss Stoller... I had no idea you-"

She turns around in shock and gives a short scream. "John? I mean, Doe? What are you doing here!? Oh. MY. GOD! How much did you hear? How much did I tell you? Oh god, oh god, oh god..."

"Listen," you say keeping your distance. "I'm very sorry if my being here is causing problems for you and the other students."

She's calming down quickly, so you press on. "You're right about my first impressions of you, but I know better what you're like now. You've worked very, very hard to reach where you are now and I respect that a lot. Is there anything I can do to help you right now? Anything at all?"

She puts a hand on her forehead. "I... I don't know. I just... I haven't been acting the way I usually do lately. It's eating up all my energy and making everyone unhappy, but I can't seem to calm myself. I'm just... I'm just too afraid."

You keep your distance. "Miss Stoller, right now, I just want to help you. The entire school is suffering right now because of your problems. Let me help you. Is there anything I can do to help you?"

"Yes, but... it would be a lot to ask. I don't know if I'd feel right asking it of you."

"Anything; I promise you. Please let me help."

"Leave."

"Okay," you say softly as you ease towards the door. "I'm giving you your space. Don't worry about the pic-"

"I meant the school."

Your get a hollow feeling in your stomach. "Y-you mean, drop out? I... I don't know that it's in my power... I mean..."

"I can get you a transfer to any other school in the state, John. I can even give you a reccommendation and not feel bad about it; you are very good, very disciplined student. It's just... it doesn't work for the two of us to be in the same school together. One of us will have to leave. I can get... that girl you like... Rachael-"

"Rebecca."

"Rebecca to go with you. You haven't been here long. I'll get you all the information you need to transfer universities in the morning. And thank you; you don't know how much this means to me."

Great. You offer to help a lady and this happens. Okay, you're no longer at the school, but you get to pick a good replacement and Rebecca will likely still be with you. It still sucks though.
