Talias Story Part 5. Sometimes helping someone will pay of... even if it takes thousands of Years
Talia had been many things in her life. Lover, warrior, daughter, mother and heiress but one thing she had never been. A woman who gave up. Even now that her body was paralyzed by this supernatural enemy, she did everything in her power to resist this spell. Bloody beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she struggled more than ever before in her life. She knew that all her goals, all her intentions would be finished if this mummy would reach her. Her eyes wandered to Anubis who was still hovering over the grotto and did not seem to be involved in the concerns of this world. She knew that the mummy was drawing its power from Anubis. But this realization unfortunately did not help her in the slightest. She was not even able to take on the curse of this mummy, how could she take on a god of the dead? With her teeth grinding, she hastily looked around the room. The mummy continued to walk toward her like an unstoppable force. In a few seconds he would have reached her. Her father stood unmoved on the other side and watched his daughter die. On the other side stood her son together with Alfred. Her son seemed tense but seemed to have decided not to intervene. She could not even blame him. She in his place would not act differently. She had always urged Damien that only strength, willpower and energy counted in life.
If Talia didn't make it out here alone she would be a disappointment for her son. Strangely enough this thought gave her strength. In her dead heart a feeling arose that she hadn't felt in this intensity for a long time. Pride. The unrestrained desire to show her son limits were only there to overcome them. Suddenly she felt something deep inside herself.
The presence of the animal.
She had seen in the monster earlier what the beast was capable of. She was still young and had to learn so much about her vampiric powers, but the beast was in full possession of the powers of her blood. In this situation there was only one thing she could do.
She closed her eyes and breathed deeply. There was perhaps a way out of here. But this meant that she had to give herself up. That she surrendered to the wild beast within her soul. She fervently hoped that she would be able to regain control. Until 5 minutes ago she never thought this step would ever happen. Not after seeing what she would become.
Raz could see that his daughter had closed her eyes. Should she have given up? He frowned his forehead and crossed his arms in front of his chest. Then he heard Damien laugh.
"Now she is pissed."
Raz frowned and looked at his grandchild. Should he be right? Should Talia still have an ace up her sleeve. He hadn't taught her to give up in any case! He was about to answer Damien when Talia screamed. It was a mark shattering scream coming from the depths of her soul. Unbridled anger and boundless hatred.
When Talia's eyes opened again, there was nothing more to be seen of human eyes. Her eyes radiated a bloody red. She bared her teeth and her canines still grew a little. Her clothes were tense to the breaking point as her muscles bloated. But the worst part was her face. Talia had always been a beautiful woman and even though this beauty was still there, she now seemed bestial.
"What the hell" snatched it from Raz when Talia actually managed to clench her fists. Damien just grinned broadly and confidently. There was no question that his mother would be defeated by such a stupid mummy.
But the mummy was incapable of being intimidated. It went on without the slightest reaction to Talia. She had regained her full mobility and went into a lurking posture. Her right leg rammed into the stone as Talia jumped forward like a bullet. None of the present were able to perceive such a speed. The animal had even increased Talia's speed and her physical strength. All Raz, Alfred and Damien could see was Talia getting ready to jump. Then she just disintegrated. The rock almost exploded at the place where she had just stood. Confused, the three looked to find out where Talia was. It took a few seconds for the three mortals to realize what had happened.
The mummy had stopped. In her right hand, Talia's body twisted and struck the mummy like a ferocious one. With kicks and punches she treated the body of the mummy without forcing it to react. The mummy had grabbed Talia by the neck like a screw clamp and stood unstoppably in front of her.
While Raz seemed satisfied, Damien was worried. That had been his mother's final ace, and it was ineffective. This mummy was unstoppable. His mother just wasn't up to this creature. Then the voice of the mummy sounded for the first time. She spoke in ancient Egyptian and yet everyone present could understand what she was saying.
"In the name of Anubis, Lord of the Underworld, God of Death, I command you to leave!"
The mummy's golden seals glowed in an unnatural green as green energy lines wound along his arm. Talia only resisted more panically. One of her kicks pulverized a rock next to the mummy and yet all her power blew up on the mummy's body. As the energy reached her, the glow in her eyes went out and Talia was again the ruler of the body. The animal had been banished. Tired and powerless, Talia hung in his arm. Never before had she felt so tired and burned out. Her muscles were burning and her reserves were exhausted.
"Have you finally seen it Talia? Nothing and nobody can stop the keeper of the grotto. Nothing can stop him".
"There is... always a way! Mother will stop him" Damien said but he didn't sound as confident as before.
"Do not give in to any illusions grandchildren. He is a mummy thousands of years old and blessed by Anubis himself. There is nothing that can stop him." Laughed Raz amused.
"This statement is false mortal" Anubis suddenly said. His voice didn't sound as if a single being was talking but rather as if an infinite number of beings were talking in the same language at the same time. "An oath from life cannot be broken."
While Talia was still thinking about how she could use this new knowledge as Raz laughed.
"Don't give yourself hope daughter. This Keeper is much older than me. None of his vows in his life will be able to help you. It is over."
Unfortunately Talia had to agree with him. She couldn't think of anything. How could she find out in a few seconds what oath an ancient Egyptian pharaoh should have made in his life and on top of that find a way to use this oath against him.
But then the grip around her neck loosened at once and she fell to the ground. Gasping she looked up. Even though she was now free again she could not move in the slightest. Her body was still much too exhausted for her to take advantage of it.
"What is this? Kill her at last" Raz shouted confused as he had to watch the mummy of Talia step back and his voice resounded again.
"Child of Khaine hear the words and send them to your father. Once the son of the desert followed the call of Egypt to protect my kingdom from the wolves of the moon. I swore the oath before Rah and Anubis that one day I would find a way to settle this debt."
The mummy turned to Anubis and crossed her hands in front of her chest and bowed. The god of the dead just nodded and the mummy stepped aside.
"What's going on?" Raz asked confused and Talia felt all her strength returning. She straightened up and stretched out.
"You made one tiny mistake, father."
"And what have I overlooked?" Raz asked growling and the first time a little uncertain.
"You haven't considered WHO turned me into a vampire." She growled and before her father could answer she had moved through the whole room and rammed a Tanto into his neck.
"Farewell father" she smiled coldly and made sure that did not fall into the grotto.
While the mighty ruler of the League of Shadows took his last breath, the mummy went back into her coffin without another word and the little island sank back into the waters of the grotto. Now only Damien, Alfred and Talia were left.
