Surprise

The voice was Faith's first clue, for it was eerily familiar, but when the figure emerged from the deep shadows Faith was still shocked at the sight of her.

Her hair was straighter and a bit longer. Her face was gaunt, her eyes dark and deep, as if she hadn't seen a good meal in months. Her body looked deceptively weak despite the fact that it no longer held even the little bit of baby fat Faith sported now.

The elder Faith smiled at her younger self. It was a smile that flirted with the edges of insanity. "Aww, what's the matter F? Surprised to see me?"

Her question seemed to jolt Faith out of her stupor. "Fuck yeah I'm surprised! Wouldn't you be?" She set herself back into a fighting stance, stake at the ready. "Who are you?"

"I'm you. Well, you in about a year." Faith said, hopping up onto a large gravestone. She seemed entirely at ease, as if she knew that her other self wouldn't hurt her, in spite of the fact that she was unarmed while her younger self was not. "Boss left me a nice little present before he went away. Put it on. Took me here. Guess I'm here to make sure things go right this time."

"Boss?" Faith, the younger, asked. She was still skeptical about all this. And she didn't even want to think about what the other girl had been through to make her look like -that- if what she were saying were true.

"Oh, guess ya haven't joined up yet. Doesn't matter." Faith said. "Our boss, the Mayor." she explained. Suddenly the thinner Faith seemed excited. She jumped down off of her perch on the gravestone and said "Come on, we'll go see him now. Forgot he'd be alive again. Unless you want to deal with those two bitches first. 'Cause that just sounds like a party"

Faith grinned.
