Supervising Team RWBY on their Trial Hunt

“Do kindly contain yourself, Miss Rose.” Glynda admonished the prodigal student as the silver-eyed girl bounced in her seat and stretched to look at the mountains out the side of the airship over her sister’s shoulder.

“Sorry Professor!” The young trainee exclaimed with an eager grin, “I’m just so excited to get to go on a real field assignment, and with you as our supervisor!”

“Hmm, indeed.” Muttered Glynda, privately unenthused with the whole endeavor. Bad enough that Ozpin was bending yet more rules for this new crop of first-years he was so taken with, but now he had sent her away from the city and her work to babysit the worst quartet of them.

At least she could count on half of them to conduct themselves semi-properly. The Belladonna girl and the Schnee heiress were seated straight and quiet on her left, in contrast to their bouncy team leader and the slouching Xiao Long across from her. Hopefully the monochrome pair could be counted on to rein in the worst excesses of the sisterly duo and they could all get through the next couple of days with some modicrum of smoothness.

Glynda sighed softly before shoring up her professional attitude, “Well young ladies, be sure to keep in mind that this is not a lackadaisical field trip, we are conducting a real and official Huntress assignment, with all the danger that implies, and it is on you to conduct yourself with the composure and caution expected of a certified worker.”

“Yes, ma’am.” The four girls answered together. Not as sharp or as in accord as Glynda would prefer her charges be, but at least they were taking cues from her without fuss.

The transport ship suddenly started to sink, and Glynda looked out the window to see they were coming down on a foothill overlooking the town they mission had called them too.

“Alright then girls, we’ve arrived at Parowly Village. Keep your weapons on hand at all times and remember to act professionally.”

In a few minutes the four-girl team and their schoolmistress were let off the airship and walking towards the settlement. Parowly Village was a fairly small town situated well within the northern highlands, which made steady business as a tourist spot thanks to its hotsprings. Unfortunately, so many people coming in to get away from their stress leaves a trail of it for the Grimm to occasionally be drawn in by. As such, a Hunter team had to periodically fly in as an extermination and deterrence measure.

Glynda sighed again. This town was a long ways away from Beacon, meaning the flight had been early and draining and it was already nearly evening. Normally she’d go for at least a cursory perimeter check first thing after arriving, but right now what she really wanted to do was check in at the hotel she had booked in advance and have a night of peace before going to task with a gaggle of untested, rowdy schoolgirls.
