Chapter 9 by SchlockTheMonkey SchlockTheMonkey

Stick with the scoobies or back to Glory?

Stick with the Scoobies

A few phone calls and a few minutes later the Scoobies were assembled in the shop. The vampire, after yet another protestation of loyalty to Glorificus, turned stool-pigeon for a third time. Deciding she might possibly be useful for later, the gang chained her up in the basement. Willow even gave her a pint of pigs' blood. "Geneva Convention," she explained.

"You bleeding hearts," Anya said, rolling her eyes.

"Yum," The vampire added, leading to a round of hostile stares from the scoobies. She pasted a not very convincing ingratiating smile on her face and held out the mug of blood. "Pig blood. Dee-licious! Can't hardly tell it from the real thing." They locked her up and filed back upstairs to continue the meeting.

"So... Glory's back." Tara had a haunted look in her eye, and seemed to pull into herself in a way she hadn't since just after the Goddess's departure from Sunnydale.

Willow put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We beat her once, we can do it again -- we're better prepared this time."

"Who's Glory?" asked Riley. The Agent had left Sunnydale shortly before she revealed herself before, and was back in town to assess some leftover equipment from the Trio's lair for possible government use.

"Imagine a Stiletto heeled Prada stomping on humanity's face... forever," said Jenny.

"Only the bad version of that," added Anya. She saw the others staring at her. "What?"

Buffy tried to pull the meeting back on track. Bad enough there was the combined awkwardness of an ex in the room and the government looking over her shoulder on this. "So we've got PsychoFaith in my stolen body and Vamp Willow, who makes PsychoFaith look like Holly Hobby. And they're both working for a devil--"

"--who wears Prada," finished Anya, pleased to be so helpful.

"That was just a metaphor," said Jenny. Anya looked disappointed. The imagery had really appealed to her.

"They'll come after us, using faces that we trust," said Buffy. "VampWillow has some obvious weakness that should help us out."

"Big blingy crosses for everyone?" Xander suggested.

"No need to get tacky with it," said Buffy, "but in principle... yeah."

"Faith's gonna be tougher, though," said Xander. "She can hit us in daylight for one thing."

"And it'll be hard to come up with any wards against her that wouldn't work on Buffy too," Willow added, looking at the Slayer. "You've got the same kind of power."

"At least we can spot her easily," said Tara. "That fragmented aura's like a beacon."

"But not everyone can read auras," Jenny pointed out.

"Faith's got other weaknesses too," Buffy said.

"Like being a psycho ho-beast?" suggested Xander.

"That too," admitted Buffy, "but not really what I was getting at. What about this..."

The planning session went well into the night.

Reveal Buffy's idea, or back to the baddies?
