Kouji then raises his voice, "If any one of you would like to extend an invitation for our guest here to be accommodated in his or her house, please step forward so that Naruto may choose.

There are not few who step forward. The first one that you notice is the man that you saved when you have just arrived at the village. Then the old couple who you helped also step forward. Even the young mother and her daughter volunteer, followed by what you assume to be the grandmother. There are few more people, more than you recall.
