Stay with her original plan

"I have no doubt you could, dear," Catherine finally spoke, agreeing with her daughter's opinion. "When it comes to sexual appeal, none but I exceed you and your brother. However, for this task I want a man's touch. It is no slight to your own capabilities, Svetlana."

The younger woman let out a quiet, disappointed sigh, but nodded. "I understand, Mother."

Piotr actually gave his sister a subtle look of empathy. For all their rivalry there was genuine affection between the siblings. "I am certain you will have a prominent role to play in future events, Svetlana."

Svetlana smiled at that. She knew her brother well enough to know when he was being snarky and when he was being forthright. "I am sure you are right."

"Then at your leave, Mother."

Catherine nodded, then Piotr disappeared in a new burst of purple-black flame.

"Now then, Svetlana. I understand you have a bit of a side-project going on," Catherine observed.

Svetlana had a sly smile on her face. "Indeed, Mother. Nothing truly power-shifting, I admit, but it is something I am enjoying immensely."

"Why don't you tell me about it."

"Happily."
