Chapter 24 by Gjt_0530
Sports festival? Or a new girl?
Sports festival time!
A/N: As a reminder, Deku's Harem and quirk pool currently consists of the following:
Tsuyu Asui
Frog: Tsuyu's Quirk gives her a frog's physiology and allows her to do anything a frog can, thereby gifting her with abilities such as: Enhanced swimming abilities, Hopping at long distances, Extending her tongue up to a maximum of 20 meters (which is strong enough to lift an entire person's body weight), Sticking to walls, Ejecting/washing her stomach, Camouflaging herself, Secreting mucous with different, controlled effects: Itch inducing, Scent masking, Paralysis.
Kimiko "Kimi" ???
Arachne: Kimi's quirk grants her mildly enhanced strength, spinnerets capable of producing extremely sticky silk that can support an average human with only a few strands, and four spider legs from her back capable of climbing walls, but not ceilings.
Kin ???
Jinx: Kin's quirk passively causes bad luck to anyone nearby her by absorbing good luck around her. She has limited control over the range, but the narrower the range, the more intense the jinx. At any time, She can unleash all the good luck she has absorbed to become very lucky(or make someone else lucky) for a short time, proportional but not equal to how long she's been absorbing and from how many people.
Katsuki Bakugo
Explosion: Katsuki's Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it on command, allowing him to create strong explosions. The more Katsuki sweats, the stronger his explosions become. If Katsuki overuses this power, his forearms will start to ache.
Ochaco Uraraka
Zero Gravity: Ochaco's Quirk gives her the power to nullify the effects of gravity on solid targets (living and nonliving) by touching them with the pads on her fingertips, causing them to become weightless and float. She is able to cancel the effect of her Quirk by touching her finger pads together.
Toru Hagakure
Invisibility: Toru's Quirk is that her body is completely invisible.
The next day, Aizawa had announced the upcoming UI sports festival.
It was an exciting opportunity to show off, and would affect their future opportunities by attracting attention of the Pro Heroes.
So, when the time rolled around, Deku was determined to put on the best performance she could. If nothing else, maybe she could impress her Idol again.
"And now for the Athlete's Oath!"
Deku felt her cock stiffen under her costume, which luckily now included a sort of...cup...to hide exactly that. It had been easy enough to get approval to use the support items, as long as the misters were removed.
Regardless, it was a common problem around Midnight-sensei.
Deku frowned as Bakugo gave an arrogant "speech" about winning, but shrugged it off and made her way to the obstacle course starting line.
She breezed through the first parts of the course relatively simply, using Tsuyu's leaps to clear the group that Todoroki stuck in the entrance, and then trailing sticky webs behind her with Arachne to trip up anyone following. Her spider form was also quite fast, with long legs and enhanced strength, as well as the ability to clear most obstacles, but she wasn't quite fast enough to keep up with the leaders of the pack like that.
When they reached the giant robot obstacles, Deku opted for a different strategy...she wasn't agile enough to evade something that big as Arachne, but it wasn't hard with Frog,
It wasn't until the minefield she needed to switch again, and several students were in front of her already.
She considered repeating the strategy from the USJ they used to get off the boat...with careful timing she could use both quirks to essentially fly, but without a roof to bounce off of, getting down would be uncontrolled and too slow.
She'd been avoiding using Explosion publicly to avoid angering Bakugo, and she couldn't use it as effectively as him anyway. Arachne...could cross the field easily, with small footprints and large step length, but wouldn't let her catch up to the leaders, some of whom were already nearly halfway through the minefield. Frog...was not precise enough to catch up. She may land on a mine. Zero Gravity was not helpful for speed here. Invisibility did nothing, especially without stripping naked an abandoning her costume.
But...
Even as she continued to run, she shifted Jinx into being her active Quirk, and immediately ratcheted the range down until it covered barely half of the minefield and a good chunk of the previous obstacle as well. And she began to drain the luck from the other students. It wasn't huge, but it was, hopefully, enough. She ran, watching her feet carefully and avoiding mines, as she felt her reserve of luck swell. Students behind her were surely getting tripped up. She saw several of her classmates tripped up and set off a mine. Nothing harmful, but enough that by the time that Bakugo and Todoroki were at the 3/4 mark, Deku was in fifth place. She had to move now, so, in a last ditch effort, she unleashed the luck she'd just stored, drained from dozens of students. It would barely last halfway to the finish at her current pace...
So she made one final shift, to Frog, and leapt as far as she could forward, powerful legs and the luck of landing in the right spot hurdling her forward as she rapidly closed the gap. Fourth place...third place...
Bakugo and Todoroki were the only two left in front of her...barely keeping ahead, but she wasn't gaining fast enough. Her tongue shot out, unnoticed by those she pursued until it was too late, and wrapped around the ankle of Todoroki, who stumbled, and in doing so, set off a mine...through sheer luck (the last of Deku's store), Bakugo was breifly made to misstep by the dust cloud, and both were staggered for a brief moment.
Deku leapt again, now having to rely on her own skill and natural luck to land safely, but she was one more leap from the finish.
The ground in front of her became a sheet of ice, and she hit...and slid, tumbling and unable to recover enough grip for another leap. Her competition was behind her, but they were likely already back on the run, and then, finally, she got enough hold to jump again...crossed the finish...and looked back, seeing both boys right behind her. She'd barely, just barely, won.
The cavalry battle was a very different kind of challenge...when Deku's been slapped with a ten million point label, it was anxiety inducing, but this challenge relied on teamwork and strategy...and that was something Deku now had some experience with.
So it ended up that Deku, Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Mei were teamed up together.
Between Deku and Uraraka, they were able to zero out gravity of the entire team, and one of Mei's "babies" let them launch themselves airborne as a group. They still had inertia, so they weren't hugely agile, but when most teams couldn't reach them even briefly, that wasn't a huge issue. They didn't even really need to try to capture any other headbands, but that wasn't impressive. This wasn't just about winning, but also about showing off their abilities.
So they went on the offensive, swooping overhead of teams and using Tsuyu's tongue to grab more headbands.
Two teams managed to get close...The two that Deku had beat, and injured the pride of, in the previous round.
But for a while, they managed to keep up their evasion.
But then Bakugo lauched himself at them for the third time, and unlike the previous times, he managed to get close enough to do something...clip the jetpack moving them around with an explosion, causing a leak that **** them to discard it before it became dangerous...
They were sitting ducks, but there wasn't long left now, and they were in the top four even without the 10 million points...
They drifted downward under the slight weight of mostly Mei's gadgets, and the timer counted down further.
Deku looked down. Both her rival teams were close. It was clear they were their main focus. They didn't just want to qualify...they wanted to beat her, and each other.
Bakugo leapt again. The couldn't dodge, but Tsuyu tried to redirect him with her tongue. It almost worked, but Deku felt a band slip off as he passed. Her own hand snatched at Bakugo's neck, and found a different band there.
And then they were past, and almost to the ground. Deku released her power, and Ochaco and Tsuyu's weight pulled them down to land lightly.
They turned at the sound of loud swearing, and immediately saw why. Todoriki was moving toward them, a band in his fist other hand reaching out to take another band from Deku...
She leaned away, and instinctively shifted to Explosion, setting off a blast that...while not enough to hurt, was enough to make her attacker flinch away.
Deku heard counting down. Bakugo was closing in, chasing Todoriki...there was no headband in his hand, but still several around his head and neck. So todoroki had the ten million.
Todoriki was already out of reach. They had one chance to get another band, Deku lunged forward, reached out toward Bakugo.
"TIME'S UP!"
Bakugo swore. Deku finally took the time to look at the band in her fist. 125 points. 440 points were already on Deku's neck, and 170 on her head. Third place? Fourth place? Maybe.
Todoroki was definitively first, and Deku glanced up at the scoreboard, but was distracted by Tsuyu.
"Deku-chan...I got one, kero"
Deku looked at the band Tsuyu held in her tongue. 615 points.
She glanced back to the board. Second place. They'd gotten second place.
And Bakugo was in third.
She grinned and dropped to the ground, released from weightlessness, giving her teammates a hug.
Mei blushed, but didn't resist it, and the other two joined in readily.
A/N: Alright, this time I'd like some suggestions for what the fourth team should be, as well as which specific students were the unseen members of Team Bakugo and Team Todoroki. The dynamics of the students are bound to be slightly different with class 1A rearranged, so it's easy enough to assume some slight differences in placement: different people were involved in the USJ event, and Shinso doesn't have becoming part of the hero course as a driving motivator to perform anymore.
Here are the ones I definitely intend to be part of the final rounds:
Todoroki, Iida, and Momo
Deku, Tsuyu, Ochaco, and Mei
Bakugo, Mina, and Kirishima
There's room to fit in 6 other students into the final round. Comment to suggest.
The Tournament! Who are the last six students?
