Spinning tunnel

There was only one way to go. Straight ahead of her, Rocketgirl saw a long hallway with perfectly cylindrical walls. It was painted with gaudy alternating pink and blue stripes that wrapped around the interior of the long tube. The whole tube was brightly lit, but it was so long that Melissa Rocketgirl couldn't see the other end of it. It just narrowed to a blur of pink and blue.

"Well, here goes nothing," she muttered to herself as she stepped into the tube.

She had walked only a few feet when the tube began to spin slowly. This shook Rocketgirl off balance, and she threw her arms to the side and wove on her feet. She began stepping unsteadily until she found her footing, even then wobbling a bit as she alternated feet and tried stepping in line with the curved stripes.

Just as she'd gotten the hang of it, the stripes began moving backwards at an alarming rate. Rocketgirl faceplanted and the moving stripes shot her back out the front of the tube. Her body hit the closed door at the front of the funhouse with a loud, painful CLANG!

"Owwww!" Rocketgirl screamed as she got to her feet, rubbing the back of her head. She was dizzy now and faltered on her feet again before catching her balance. She stood in the doorway and watched the rotating spiral treadmill pick up speed. It must have been moving at least 100 miles an hour now, and getting faster.

"You didn't think this funhouse would be a cakewalk, did you, Melissa?" Ms Jensen's taunting voice echoed in the spinning corridor. "Why don't you try using your special skills?"

"Thanks, like that hadn't occurred to me!" Rocketgirl shouted angrily. Then to herself, "All right, you can do this." She heaved a big breath and took off at a sprint -- and an angle-- down the rapidly spinning hallway.

Rocketgirl was fast enough for the treadmill but trying to account for both her forward trajectory and the spinning of the walls was simply too much. She didn't get shot back out to the beginning of the funhouse again, but she wasn't always running on the floor, her body spinning along with the hallway so she was running on the walls, the ceiling -- wherever she happened to be at any given point in time.

Rocketgirl must have been running at her fastest superhuman speed for at least fifteen minutes when the hallway suddenly came to an end. Without any warning whatsoever, the speeding, dizzy superheroine found herself run straight into...
