Spend the night with him

Khayone walks away, motioning you to follow. You know what he's thinking and you are upset that he is sending out wolves that haven't had a chance to mingle with the pack to fight your wars. But you know they are needed. There are so few of you in your pack that could go and fight. With a majority of your bottoms either pregnant or nursing, you are left with only your tops. Ten of you should be more than enough to take care of small scuffles, but a full war? You need more hands on deck for that, even if your allied clans come to your aid.

It doesn't mean you have to like it. "Why send him to war?" you ask, "Why risk him like this? If he dies, not only will we have lost a warrior and a skilled blacksmith, but I will lose the only shot I have at being married to a man who actually cares for me and not my breeding status."

"You know why." Khayone says, not looking at you, "The Red Fang is large, larger than us despite their lack of territory. Even with the help of the Ash Eclipse and the Nightwalker packs, we will have a difficult time winning. I doubt the Red Fang will call on their allies, what few there are, but we need to be sure of our victory. With Axel and his pack, we stand a better chance of victory."

He pauses and looks at you for a few moments. "I understand your fears though." he says softly, "I normally would tell you to stay away from him till he proves himself worthy, but I know that will not stop you. Be with him, cement your relationship tonight. Let him allow you to carry his legacy. Maybe that will encourage him to come back to you breathing, instead of in pieces."

You nod, still not pleased but knowing that Khayone will not change his mind, no matter what you say. It is better to give in and use your time ensuring a successful breeding than fighting with him. Silently, you bow and leave the room.

Axel and his pack have been set up in the basement of the complex, not uncommon for new wolves of the pack. The higher you work your way up in the pack, typically the higher floor your on. You have no doubt he will be with you on the uppermost floors when he returns.

You spot the other members of his pack before you see him. You recognize Jimmy Hudson, George Black, Cedric Silverback, and Solomon Avez. You weren't as close to them as you were Axel, but they were your closest friends while in the Moonfang pack. They treat you no differently, hugging you and telling the same old jokes, no matter how silly. It makes you happy to know your friends are still the same, even after all they've been through.

They eventually tell you that Axel is in the first bedroom to the left. Apparently he went in there soon after talking with Khayone, working on battle strategies. "Not like he needs to." Cedric says, chuckling, "He knows the Red Fang territory pretty well from how often we fought them. And we know how to fight together. The only curveball is fighting with your pack and whoever else joins in."

You enter the room silently, but Axel's attention is immediately on you. "What are you doing here?" he asks, "Does Khayone know you're here?"

"He is the one who encouraged me to come down here." you tell him, "He's agreed that the quicker we cement our bond, the better it will be for all involved. You will have an heir, I will not be **** to breed with a stranger, and Khayone gets a soldier who has more to fight for than a chance in the pack."

"I will not do it if you are only doing this for a babe." Axel says, baring his teeth, "I will wait a hundred moons if you aren't willing."

"I want this." you say, "You have been haunting my dreams since I received your letter. I need you, even if tonight is my only chance. I don't just want a baby, I want a night with the man I love. I want to scream to the heavens and know in the morning I have no regrets, because I took a chance with you. Give me one night with you, for it may be our first and last."

He is slient for a moment before standing from the desk he was working at. "If this is what you want, then I'll gladly give it to you." he says, "Let us be lovers, even if it is just for tonight."

You smile and step forward, allowing him to pull you into your embrace. This is a night you will not forget anytime soon.
