Somewhat uncertain

There's a nervous excitement in your home the next morning as you and Nicole, awkwardly, set about your routines. You keep glancing at each other; whenever either of you are caught, you each offer the other knowing, guilty, smiles before looking away. No words are said however, and despite what you discussed last night, you wonder if she's having second thoughts about the arrangement. After breakfast, when you grab your briefcase to head off to work, she kisses you goodbye, as she has done every morning of your marriage. It's in that moment that the awkward silence becomes unbearable and you have to say something.

"It's not too late you know," You offer "You can say 'no'. I can work my way up the long way, I don't mind."

A thankful smile crosses her face and she looks like a weight has just been lifted off of her shoulders. For a moment, you think she's going to take you up on it. That this is just some weird fantasy that the two of you have shared and now that the arousal has passed and you have come to your senses she'll see that she doesn't really want to do this. She'll realize that this is absolutely insane.

Instead, she asks you a question. "Do you want me to back out?"

A part of you does; a part of you wants to keep her for yourself, keep your marriage as it is: safe, secure, idyllic. But another part of you wants this job, and it's very hard for you to say no to that part. It's too difficult a decision for you to make yourself; you know you need her input. You thought you got it last night, but that could have just been the sexual tension of the situation talking. "I want you to be happy."

Nicole sighs with a sort of contented relief and smiles. "You make me happy." She says adoringly and takes your hands in hers, "And this isn't just for you, this is for us." She then looks into your eyes, "I want to do this. So long as you still agree to my condition, I want this."

You kiss her lightly, "I still agree."

She sighs again "Good." she states and then straightens your tie. "You should probably ask Mr. Milton if there's anything I need or should do then." She says with an impish half smile, "Because I have no clue where to begin."

You laugh and then embrace her as you both chuckle. "Yeah." You confirm, "Neither do I."

With one last kiss, you wish each other a good day and head off to work. Traffic is thankfully light, and you make it to the office at a remarkably good time. Upon entering, you head up to Mr. Milton's office where his secretary, Marie, greets you.

"Ah! Mr. Milton's been expecting you, please head right in."

You nod your thanks and open the door. Mr. Milton is sitting behind his desk as you walk in, and upon hearing you enter his office he motions you over to sit in one of the chairs across from him. "Come in, come in my boy! Please take a seat." You do as he asks, and when your sitting comfortably in the chair he continues, "So I take it you've discussed my proposal with your wife then?" After you nod he asks, "Tell me, what's your answer?"

You take a deep breath and give him the news he wanted, "Nicole and I have decided to accept your offer."

Mr. Milton clasps his hands together, "Excellent! Excellent. Just the news I was hoping for."

"Uh... We do have some questions though, mainly regarding how to begin."

The older man nods exuberantly, "Of course, of course! Naturally. Well you'll be transferred to work directly under me for the next few months, learning everything you'll need to run the company. We'll start immediately. There's no time to lose. No time at all I tell you."

"And... my wife?"

The grin on his face is absolutely predatory.
