Some small talk?

“How was literature?” Jason asked out of the blue.

“Why are you asking?” Jade asked in confusion.

“Come now, can’t I make small talk?”

“Well, it was fine, I guess?”

“I think so too. Literature’s kinda interesting, to be honest. Though, I do think that lesson sometimes becomes nothing but fucking hokey. That bit about the red door sounded like bullshit.”

Jade stared at Jason, thinking how his views echoed hers when she was listening to Mike gush about the door.

“By the by, I seem to recall you have your anniversary date which that nerd on Saturday?”

“Yeah, so? Don’t even think about making me cancel it, jerk.”

“Nah, I have no such intentions! In fact, it’s in my best interest to see you go on that date.”

“You’ll see. Don’t worry about it.”

On that cheery note, and with a “Take care, slut!”, Jason (figuratively) booted Jade out of his van, before driving off.

Jade stared after Jason’s van, wondering what was inside the package he’d given her, and what he’d had planned for her. She had a funny feeling that she’d find out soon, though...
