Some interesting things, but stuff they've seen before

After a few more moments of hesitation, "W-Well Ms. Harley, When we got there, Ms. Vale was doing her report and stuff, but she had a few of these big armored looking guys in these big high tech-looking armor suit things. They also had these weird white patch symbols on their chest and arms that had one of those chess symbols on them in black," The soldier says, causing Reina to look slightly confused and curious at the mentioning of a chess symbol as if remembering seeing something similar to what was described as Abby looks slightly alarmed and quickly begins to search up something on the computer table thing.

"After she finished up doing her report, The armored guys led her to this military-looking van thing which then drove to a large high rise in uptown Gotham, but when we tried to get a closer look, security scared us off." The soldier finishes explaining, ashamed at the fact they were scared off.

Harley then takes a moment to think and process what she had just been told before she then turns back towards the two soldiers who flinch under her gaze. "Do you remember what building she was dropped off at?" Harley asks as she steps aside and gestures to the holographic map on the table.

The soldier who then explained everything to Harley steps up and then points to a large looking high-rise in the middle of Gotham. "I think it was that building there, or at the very least in that general area." The soldier explains before walking back over to her comrade.

For a few moments, Harley goes over once again all the information presented to her. She vaguely remembers something similar involving the chess piece people and the building that the soldier pointed to. Having been given enough satisfactory information by the soldiers, Harley then turns back to them and claps her hands together happily, "Well! You girls did wonderfully, couldn't have done it better myself. Pay raises for both of you, now get out." Harley says as she points towards the door.

The two soldiers then take their opportunity to leave and begin to make their way towards the door, not before the one who was quiet most of the time turns back around and says, "I don't know if this will help Ms. Harley, but when we were watching Ms. Vale do her broadcast thing, I had to go take a leak, but when I was walking back to the car, I heard some weird noises coming from the sky, but I couldn't see anything of note." The soldier finishes saying before Harley nods at them, and they leave.

After the meeting door closes, Harley then turns back to the table and says, "Alright! That gives up a somewhat good picture of what we can look forward to." Harley then turns towards the girls, "Do we know anything about a military group with a fascination with chess? Because from what they said, Something's ringing a bell here for me." Harley asks the group as she begins to try and remember what she remembers about the group.

Reina then has a light bulb go off in her head, "Back during my cartel days when I worked as subjefe, a plane was flying over our private air space, which was particularly strange seeing as how nobody flew over that area, but after doing the reasonable thing and shooting it down, In the wreckage, we found bodies with similar patches similar to what they described and strange artefactos that ended up helping me go to where I am now, although I can't say that I know anything about them." Reina explains as the rest of the crew listens intently.

Harley then takes a moment to think before saying, "Alright, So they handle magic stuff. Do we know anything else about them?" Harley asks the group, who only look at each other confused. Harley then turns towards Abby, who still furiously works on something, and asks, "What'chu workin on their Abby wabby." Harley says as she leans her elbows on the table.

Suddenly, Abby pulls up a holographic picture of a symbol similar to what the soldier described.

"This, Is checkmate." Abby says before she goes onto say, "Had the unfortunate privilege of running into them and one of their leaders back in my colony days," Abby says as she pulls up another picture,

"This is Sasha Bordeaux, Their royal cunt of a leader that I ran into during a mission in the lower parts of Gotham. We thought that she had resigned from Checkmate but surprise surprise, that was all entirely bullshit ran, and she ended up killing a few of my best me, So you could excuse the fact that I don't have a rosy impression of her." Abby says angrily, while also glaring at the image of the African American woman with the short loose black hair and cybernetic arm and eye, all enough stuff for Harley to get hard at.

"What can you tell us about Checkmate?" Pain asks Abby, who then lets out a sigh, trying to cool herself down.

"Their a covert ops group chartered as a United Nations Security Council-affiliated agency that takes a much more back seat approach to certain things and plays funnily enough, mostly as a Chessmaster type of group, meaning that they pull anyone's strings that they can get their hands on." Abby explains before she goes onto say, "That's all I know about them, and the only other information we could get on them is locked away in colony archives, so there's no chance there." Abby finishes explaining.

Now that they've seen a lot of the main chess pieces on this figurative chessboard, they need to come up with a plan...
