Smithers' explanation

“It wasn’t pretty, Alex, but you need to know right now that no one blames you for what happened. It was totally out of your control.”

Alex has never known Smithers to look or act so serious. He searches his memory but cannot recall anything after going into Blunt’s restroom.

“It’s all so weird,” Alex said. “I felt this overwhelming urge to get off, and I couldn’t… I mean, I felt like it was going to happen, but it just wouldn’t…. “ Alex’s face flushed as the pretty doctor looked up, quizzically.

“What happened?” he asks. “I mean… what happened to me, and what happened after I blacked out? You make it sound like it was serious.”

Smithers looks uncomfortable and hands Alex a media tablet. “Personally, I think you would be better off not knowing what happened. Like I said, no one blames you, and everyone is going to pretend like nothing happened at all… But I figured you might not be able to handle having a blank in your memory, so I pulled the security camera footage and put it here for you if you insist on seeing it. Otherwise, we can just move on to the explanation of what’s going on inside of you; that part, I can handle.”
