Sleepwalking

A high-pitched whine followed by a yelp, some shuffling on the bed. Alexa groaning, Carol looking over the side.

"How'd you fall off the bed?" Carol questioned, helping Alexa onto the edge of the bed. She was rubbing her head, surprised and pained by the fall.

"I dunno." Alexa shrugged. Both women laughed it off, and went back to bed.

Hours of sleep passed. Carol was both awake and asleep when she heard a noise from downstairs. Shuffling. She'd gotten good at hearing noises after living alone with just the boys. Alexa wasn't here. The bathroom? No. That couldn't be downstairs.

Proceeding with caution down the steps, she grabbed a robe from the bedroom. If someone was invading her house, they most certainly weren't getting a shot of her in her underdress. Looking around, she saw a dark figure in the corner, near the door to the pool. Approaching slowly, Carol realized they were in a jumper.....and had curlers in their hair.

"Alexa? What're you doing looking at the corner." Carol questioned. No response.

Freely walking up the girl, Carol realized she was standing, and even stepped around, but her eyes were shut. Sleepwalking. That's what it was.

"Lex. Wake up sweetie." Carol said, lightly touching her back. Nothing. Remembering how she used to get her boys up Carol reached under the jumper, and began tickling Alexa's sides. A yip followed, and Alexa's voice groaned. Her diaper began to fill up with urine as she involuntarily let go.

"Where....downstairs?" Alexa said, face full of confusion, especially at her thumb in her mouth.

"You were sleepwalking. Scared me senseless." Carol said, keeping her hand on the girls back.

"Oh, uhm, sorry. I sometimes do it, only when I'm stressed." Alexa said, red filling her face.

"Chill out Lex, not a big deal. Up for a midnight snack?" Carol said, hoping to distract the embarrassed girl with some food. It worked, and after some milk/cookies, Alexa had forgotten anything about the night before. They head back to sleep, and Alexa was the first to go, this time, much more securely hugged by Carol.
