Sit next to the girl

I opt to sit next to the brunette, the guy in the back looks a pretty occupied with his phone, but she looks like she could use the company.

"Is this seat taken?" I ask. She looks up at me "No, no, feel free" she replies. "Thanks! I'm Jess" I say as I sit, "Megan" she replies.

I sit in the large seat facing the window, not much to be seen in the area we were in, other than snow covered fields, which were barely visible in the dark.

"Do you go to the U?" I ask, motioning to her shirt. "Yeah, my freshmen year. I'm going home for Christmas" she answers. "And your boyfriend's not traveling with you?" I ask, trying to politely get information from her. "No, I'm single" She says.
