Shuttlecraft duty

Deborah tried not to audibly sigh. Technically, she was part of the Flight Control/Helm department, and all officers in said department had to be shuttlecraft qualified. Which mean that she was technically a reserve shuttlecraft pilot. Normally, this really didn't come into play that often. She'd be required to "keep her currency" on the shuttlecraft. Which meant reading the technical updates and maintaining minimum hours on the actual shuttlecraft and in simulations. Deborah actually liked to fly the shuttlecraft, but it wasn't what she hoped to be doing with all her time. However, a strange set of coincidences had put the entire roster of regular shuttlecraft pilots out of commission. Therefore, as the most junior member of the department, it fell to Deborah to fill in as shuttlecraft pilot. Deborah was doing the pre-flight checklist from the shuttlecraft's cockpit when the group she would be flying showed up nearly simultaneously.
