Chapter 15
What's next?
Shopping Spree
"Do I need diapers, too?" Kate asked, blushing slightly as she looked down at herself, remembering that she was a twenty-three-year-old woman.
"Do you think you need diapers?" Delia asked, "It was an accident, and I'm not going to **** you to wear them if you don't need them."
"I... maybe. I don't know," Kate said, a worried look on her face.
"How about we buy you some just as a precaution?" Delia asked as she opened the car door and carried Kate to a shopping cart, sitting her into the kid's seat, "Is that okay with you?"
"Yeah," Kate said quietly, staring down at the pavement as she wiped the tears from her eyes, "that sounds good."
"Now remember, I'm very well off, so don't be afraid to ask for anything that you like." Delia said with a warm smile as they entered the department store, softly stroking Kate's hair comfortingly, "Nothing is too good for my new daughter."
"Okay," Kate whispered quietly, looking up and finding Delia's eyes, "Thank you, for taking me in."
"It's no trouble at all." Delia said as she walked down the diaper aisle, picking up a package of small white diapers and changing supplies.
"Now, let's get you some clothes." Delia said as she pushed the cart towards the children's clothing area.
There, Kate found a few outfits that caught her eye and yanked them from the cart, holding them up in front of herself and inspecting them critically, while Delia perused the rest of the merchandise, looking for something suitable for a young child. "I want to... try these on!" Kate said, holding up a yellow and green dress with a darker yellow sash.
"Ooh, good choice." Delia cooed as she pushed the cart towards the dressing room. She helped Kate out of the cart and brought her and the dress into the room, slipping the dress over the little woman's head and covering her body. "There, you look adorable." Delia smiled as she pushed the little one back out.
"Thank you." Kate smiled nervously at Delia as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. A cute little girl stared back at her. This should have embarrassed her, but she didn't care. She even smiled a bit as Delia removed the dress again before placing it into the cart with others.
Delia then proceeded to gently lift Kate up and sat her back into the cart, giving her sides a little tickle as Kate giggled loudly. Once clothes were taken care of, Delia pushed the cart down the toy aisle, earning a gasp from the little woman in the cart.
"Look at all the toys!" Kate said, "I wanna buy everything!"
"Perhaps tomorrow we can go on another shopping spree." Delia said with a giggle, "But tonight, you can buy any five toys that you want!"
"Wow!" Kate smiled, before shaking her head at the dizzying array of choices, "I don't know which ones to get."
"Money is no issue," Delia reminded as she placed a car seat into the cart, "just pick whatever five toys you want."
After a few minutes of debating, Kate settled on five toys; a small yellow car, a little house, a kitten, a dog, a bear, and a balloon. "I'll have it all."
"Oh, you are just too cute!" Delia cooed as she began to push the cart towards the checkout, giving Kate a little beep on the nose. Kate giggled a bit, before stopping as she sniffled a bit, a tear rolling down her face.
"Are you okay?" Delia asked, her voice quivering a bit with worry.
"Is... Is this what it's like to have parents?" Kate asked with a whimper. She then looked up into Delia's face as she said, "Because if it is, then... I love this feeling!"
Before Delia could respond, Kate hugged her tightly and buried her face into her shoulder. Delia froze in place for a moment as she wrapped her arms around the little woman's shoulders and gave her a tight squeeze.
