She wants something out of this world: being an alien.

It wasn’t long before they decided to have The Talk about what to do with the magic coin. It was a Wednesday, just after both of them had come back home from work. They sat across from each other, the magic coin sitting on the table in between them. After Tom looked at his wife, she started to talk first. “So, about what to do with this.” It was certainly sooner than he’d expected they’d have this conversation, so Tom expected her to have a big request. “The more I think about it, the more one thing comes back to me: I want to be something other than a Human.”

After she said it, her answer became blindingly obvious in hindsight. Both Tom and Sarah loved science fiction, it was one of the things that drew them together. She’d remarked, more than once, as they watched some sci-fi series, about how much she’d love to try being something that wasn’t just a ‘boring human’. Nodding his head, Tom asked the obvious follow-up question. “Sounds good to me, but what kind?”

“That’s all I’ve been able to think about!” Sarah muttered, running a hand through her hair in stress. It was still odd for Tom to see her so young, and the annoyed expression made him laugh. That brought a smile to her face, and she explained, “That’s the thing, there are so many to choose from! Star Trek, Doctor Who, Mass Effect, they all have such amazing alien races! That’s why...I want you to choose for me.” His eyes widened as he heard her say that.

Looking at the coin, Tom let himself take real stock of what was being asked. “So, for a week then?” She nodded her head, and he reached out to take the coin. He thought long and hard about what aliens she could become, what kind of alien would be the sexiest, or the most fascinating.
