Chapter 225 by robyna
Does she kick him out of her office?
She tries
"Your playing here is a privilege, Mr. Peters," Nancy said. "A privilege I believe I will revoke if I hear one more insult of the way we run this casino. We play by the rules. We don't screw our customers."
Rick nodded. He'd been watching her the whole time, his enhanced senses picking up on both her belief and on that hint of uncertainty she couldn't completely dispel. "I can tell you believe that to be true," Ms. Drew. "Or at least you want it to be true. And I respect you for it. There is a lot of money floating around in casinos and, quite frankly, not everyone working in them is compensated well enough to eliminate temptation. More than a few dealers have been paid off and the head of security would be an attractive target for bribery or blackmail."
She jerked up in her seat and he held up a hand to forestall what was likely to be a quick dismissal. "As I said, I can tell that this isn't the case where you are concerned. You're doing your best to run an honest casino, to the extent those two words aren't oxymorons. By way of apology for my assumption that you might be on the take, can I buy you a drink."
"I don't drink with casino guests." Maybe, but a part of her wanted to. The slight flush to her skin hinted that she needed to get out of that office.
"Tomorrow I'll be a guest. Tonight, I'm just a guy staying in the hotel. But tell you what, there's a restaurant down the road from here. Once you're off company property, you're on your own and it is getting late. A girl has to eat, right? If you don't want to drink, no pressure."
Before bio-DNA, Rick could have gone months without a girl even noticing him. But the drug didn't just keep him healthy and give him the ability to read people like nobody else. It, with the tiny bit of exercise he'd been able to squeeze in, had transformed his body into something that could easily grace the cover of a romance novel, raised his cheekbones, and gave him more hair. Of course anyone in marketing knew that the best way to attract a woman's attention was to have other women already wanting him and Nancy would have picked up on that... both from Tiffany's visit and because she'd checked his hotel registration and would know he'd come with two woman.
"You sure your wife won't mind?"
"Not married," Rick said. "And no, my friends won't mind."
She sighed. "I have no idea why I'm doing this but fine. Take me out to dinner. But I warn you, that's an expensive restaurant and I'm ordering what I want."
"I think I've got that covered."
How did dinner go? Did Nancy put out?

Hacking a new Future
Rick Peters is a marketing manager for a bio-tech company and thinks his future is made with the success of his latest marketing campaign. Instead, he's fired--the company wants to bring in younger, cheaper talent. Thanks to non-compete agreements, Rick's career options aren't good and thanks to his long-time dedication to the company that just shafted him, Rick doesn't have much of a love life to fall back on, either. Rick has to make some choices and some changes to his life. He can pursue revenge, try to make his own millions, or even search for personal fulfilment. One thing is certain, if he doesn't do something, he'll quickly end up homeless and on the street.
