She stays silent, maybe she can slip away.

Without realizing it Danny suddenly found her hands cradling the underside of her belly as she panted through the sudden influx of pain that ran over it. Up until that instant, she had been under the delusion that she could do this on her own, now she was sure she wasn’t going to be able. The sudden pain she had just felt was just too much, and she could see from Macy that things were only going to get worse. She knew she had to get away and call for help even if Macy didn’t want any. Slowly she brought the blankets and water to Macy as she rested in between contractions.

“Are you okay?” Macy asked panting.

“Fine.” Danny answered. “Need anything else?”

“No. Just to let things happen.” Macy groaned as she tried not to push through the next contraction.

“Okay, I’m going to walk a bit, maybe move my own things along.”

“If you’re sure.” Macy moaned not really paying attention.

Quickly, before another pain hit, Danny slid around the wall headed up to the path just on the other side of a large stand of trees. She had lied to Macy about them being away from everything. In reality, just on the other side of a long flat stand of thick scrub oak, was the south trail of a local park. She had chosen this as an out if she found she needed to call for help or just plain chickened out. Although she could have crossed onto the path at either end of the stand of trees, she slowly she **** herself through the dense growth. Then she pulled out her cell phone and called the emergency number telling them that she was walking in the park when she started having contractions.

Five hours later, she was lying on a bed in the hospital having had a baby girl.
