Chapter 18 by Torg Torg

What happens next?

She stands up for him

Dliva was mad. She had hoped her alien lover wouldn't be found by the hunting patrols. Now, the elders wanted to boil him in a pot as a punishment for trespassing on tribe land and as a warning to the other invaders. His spirit-soul would forever wander the jungle. Dliva was not going to let that happen.

"What does your spirit have to say, Dliva of the Crooning Jakka-bird? How is your spirit involved in this matter?" said the chief tribal elder, her face frowning at the young girl.

"I recognize this alien's spirit-body! The Spirit Law of Betlita-Kita, the Goddess of Spirits, says that stranger-spirits will be killed if they violate our lands. But his spirit-body is no stranger to me!" The crowd sucked in a collective breath all at once.

Calvo didn't understand a word she said, but hung on every unintelligible syllable. When the village gasped, he cringed. He wondered what she'd said to shock everyone so. He hoped she hadn't told them that he'd taken her virginity.

"What does your spirit mean?" demanded the hunting party leader. "Explain your spirit's statement!"

"Two days ago while hunting, we started tracking an alien-spirit. It appeared that the other aliens were hunting this one by the way it moved and hid when the alien sky-birds flew overhead. We also found a group of aliens hunting this one, the cruel woman warriors from the coastal fortress. We let the hunted live and attacked and killed the warrior patrol. Our spirits rejoiced with many kills, and the rest fled back to the fortress. You have heard the spirit-voice of the leader of that hunting party describe our battle." As she talked, she began pacing in front of the elders.

"The alien sky-birds attacked us, and my spirit-body was separated from my hunting party. On my way home, after nightfall, when I was looking for shelter, I found the hunted alien spirit-body attack by Khurt-Mali, the God of the Mountain, and freezing to **** in Khurt-Mali's cold. I was able to drag his spirit-body to a nearby cave, and I proceeded to warm his body with a blanket and my own spirit-heat. While doing so, the spirit of Wunfa-Chargi, the Goddess of Fire, enflamed my spirit, and we merged our spirits together long into the night. So, he is no stranger to my spirit and therefore the tribe, and I claim the right of protection."

The elder woman frowned, deeply wrinkling her face, and said, "What proof do you have of this? How do we know you don't just have a fancy for him and want to fuck him?"

"He wears my First Blood talisman," Dliva said with finality. She had seen the string and a stray feather in the neck of his clothing, and she knew that his possession of it would convince the tribal elders of the truth. All it would take would be to cast the spell that shows what blood it contained. It had the blood of her first breath, taken from her spirit-cord when it was severed from her mother, the blood of becoming a maiden, taken from her first moon-time, the blood of her first spirit-kill of an enemy, and, now, the blood of her first spirit-joining with the alien.

Her defiance in defending the alien was now transforming into the heat of passion as she gazed at the pale alien. Wunfa-Chargi really wanted her to save his spirit and made her spirit burn with Her fire for him to touch her again.

As she looked on, the elder said, "Tarkul, check him. See if he has the talisman." The hunting leader moved to the alien.

Calvo struggled when the blue man that had captured him strode toward him. The two strong warriors at his sides tightly held his arms, two more grabbed his legs, and they didn't let him move. The leader stopped an arm's length from him and reached for his neck. Calvo growled at him, but couldn't do anything. The alien warrior picked the necklace from his neck and pulled it over his head.

Calvo had forgotten about the necklace; he stared at it as it swung on the cord. His mind returned to the passionate lovemaking that he and the alien girl had made. He stopped struggling and relaxed. He looked over at her and smiled broadly. She was saving him, because he had had sex with her, had taken her cherry. Apparently, she liked his performance.

The warrior carried the necklace gently to the elder woman. She took it by the cord and waved her hand over it, mumbling a low rhyming chant. Calvo just about popped his eyes out when the necklace first glowed green, then yellow, red, and finally orange. When the orange glow appeared, the crowd sucked breath as one.

"She tells the truth!" the old woman shouted to the assembly. Many of the women cheered, but many of the men scowled. "Dliva, this alien's spirit is in your command. You don't want him dead. Shall we release him back to the jungle? What is your will in this matter. I shall make the final decision."

Up to this point, Dliva had been sure of what she wanted -- the strange alien man not cooked in boiling water. She looked over at the pinioned prisoner. Her spirit began to be filled with the same fire she had felt when they had joined in the cave; Wunfa-Chargi was still with her. An idea formed in her head.

What is Dliva's plan?
