She rushes to her room

With a newfound determination, she takes a deep breath and gathers her courage. She has **** but to face them. She runs past the group, her heart in her throat, her eyes on the prize. Her dorm mates stand right outside her door, confused by her uncharacteristic behaviour. "Guys, guys, wait," Hazel stammers, facing her dorm mates. They know her secret, she's sure of it. But she can't let them know she's being blackmailed. She can't let them see how truly powerless she is. "Look, I'm really sorry," she says, her voice small and trembling. "It won't happen again. I promise." She tries to sound convincing, but the tremor in her voice gives her away. The girls exchange glances, their smirks telling her they don't believe a word she's saying. But they don't push the issue. They just stand there, watching her with predatory eyes. Hazel knows she's not off the hook, not by a long shot. But for now, she's bought herself some time. Time to figure out what the sender's next move is, time to try and salvage what's left of her dignity. She takes a deep breath and heads for the cafeteria, her heart racing with every step.
