Chapter 51 by Joanna Joanna

She made it and back home.

Anna’s heart raced as she slipped out of the classroom, trembling with fear. The chaos Ashley created was her only chance, but she couldn’t leave as she was. Her collar and **** clothes would get her caught instantly. She had to change.

She ducked into the girls’ changing room, breath shallow, and found some clothes—jeans, a hoodie, and a plain t-shirt. She dressed quickly, her hands shaking as she pulled the hoodie over her head. It was too big, but that helped hide her collar. She tugged a baseball cap low over her face, hiding her features, and stuffed her **** clothes into the trash.

After a deep breath, she slipped out, her bag slung over her shoulder. The hallway was empty, the chaos of Ashley’s presentation still holding everyone’s attention. Anna moved quickly, silently, toward the back exit. She had to get out before anyone noticed.

As she approached the exit, she heard voices and ducked into an empty room, pressing herself against the wall. She held her breath as the voices grew louder.

“Did you see her? That slut Ashley, bending over like that? I can’t believe she did that in front of the whole class.”

“I know, right? And Theo just went for it. I mean, damn. What a luck guy.”

The voices passed, and Anna let out a shaky breath. She waited, then slipped out and made a break for the exit. I'm so sorry for threatening you to do this, Ashley, and I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to apologize and thank you for your help.

The cool air hit her face as she stepped outside, relief flooding her. She wasn’t safe yet, though. She had to get to the meeting point.

Days earlier, she’d emailed her uncle, Miguel, who did long-distance driving between their home country and US. She’d told him she might escape soon and asked him to pick her up at a gas station. She’d memorized the route, her mind racing as she navigated the streets. She had to be careful.

When she reached the gas station, her heart leapt. The old van was there, just as promised. Miguel leaned against it, scanning the street. “Anna,” he said urgently. “Get in. Now.”

Anna climbed in, hands trembling as she fumbled with the seatbelt. Miguel started the engine and pulled onto the road. “Did anyone follow you?” he asked, eyes darting to the rearview mirror.

“No. I was careful,” Anna replied, chest heaving.

Miguel nodded, jaw tight. “Good. We can’t afford mistakes.”

Anna glanced out the window, heart still racing. The city blurred past as they drove, streets growing quieter. She didn’t know where they were headed, but she trusted her uncle.

Miguel had parked here every day, unsure when Anna would escape. He’d been anxious, waiting. If she didn’t show, he’d go to the school gate after classes to ensure she hadn’t been caught—just delayed. Today, she finally made it.

When they drove to the suburbs, Miguel used his car repair pliers to cut off Anna's collar. Then they continued to move forward.

As they approached the border, Miguel pulled into a rundown motel and told Anna to wait. He put Anna in a box and hid her in the cargo hold. Her heart was pounding along the way. Finally, they crossed into safety.

A few days later, Anna stood at her parents’ house in their homeland. Her mother opened the door, tears streaming down her face. “Anna!” she cried, pulling her into a tight embrace. Her father joined them, holding her close. “We thought we lost you,” he whispered.

Later that evening, Anna sat on the porch, staring out at the stars. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see her boyfriend, Carlos, standing there. His eyes were filled with love and concern.

“Anna,” he said softly. “I’m so glad you’re back.”

Anna looked down, her heart heavy with guilt. “Carlos,” she whispered. “I… I’m not the same girl I was before. I’m… I’m dirty. I’m broken. You deserve someone better.”

Carlos took her hands, his voice firm. “You’re the best girl. You’re strong, brave, and you survived. That’s all that matters to me. You’re perfect. You’re my Anna. And I love you.”

Tears streamed down Anna’s face as she leaned into him. For the first time in so long, she felt safe, loved, and free. She was home.

Note: I just let Anna go because if she was caught, she might get Ashley and Theo involved, which will be very similar to another branch. If she did not get them in, she would lost her **** class and no longer have any connection with Ash and Theo, which will make her unrelated to the main story.
