I took the elevator to the eighth floor and got out, trying to look casual in case I recognized anyone. Liz was still downstairs, and her room was on the sixth floor anyway.

The halls were quiet. I used the keycard to Room 833 and stepped through Dani's door.

The room was dark except for a desklamp, and the curtains were open to the lights of the city.

"Dani?" I called. "Danielle?"

I could smell her perfume.

"Dani?"

There was a note under the desklamp, and a small paper shopping bag next to it.

In Dani's loopy handwriting, the note said, "Put on what's in the bag and come to Room 1001."

Ten-o-one, was that some sort of suite? What could be going on?
