Does she know?
She knows!
Jenna turned the side-view mirror over in her hands, frowning at the cracked plastic housing. The morning sun caught the glass and flashed across her face. She tilted it this way and that, checking the angle the way she always did when something on the car felt off.
“Yeah, it’s definitely loose,” she muttered, more to herself than to the two boys still standing there like they’d been hit with a stun gun. “I knew I should’ve tightened it last week.”
She held the mirror up at eye level to tidy a stray lock of hair. The glass only showed her from the chin up at first. She adjusted her grip, angling it a little lower without thinking.
The reflection changed.
For a second her brain simply refused to process it. Then it hit all at once.
Bare shoulders. Bare breasts, full and completely uncovered, nipples tight in the morning air. Bare stomach. The tops of her thighs. No shirt. No bra. Nothing.
Jenna’s mouth opened. No sound came out.
The mirror shook in her hand. She yanked it down, then immediately brought it back up as if a second look would fix it. Same view. Same body. Her body. Standing in the open parking lot in front of two teenage boys and a street full of passing cars.
Heat slammed into her face so hard her eyes watered.
“I—”
She dropped the mirror. It clattered against the asphalt. Both hands flew to her chest, then one dropped lower in a useless attempt to cover everything at once. There was too much of her and not enough hands.
The boys still hadn’t moved.
Then one of them made a sound that started as a cough and turned into a laugh he tried and failed to swallow. The other one actually took a step back, eyes wide, before a grin broke across his face like he couldn’t help it.
“Holy shit,” the first one said, voice cracking. “She’s actually—”
“Don’t look at me!”
That only made it worse. The second boy let out a short, disbelieving laugh and fumbled his phone out of his pocket. Jenna heard the camera shutter click once. Then again. Then a third time, faster.
“Stop—stop taking pictures—!”
She spun toward the open driver’s door, one arm still mashed across her chest, the other trying to hide what it could between her legs. Her breasts bounced with the movement. Another click. Another laugh, louder this time, overlapping with the first boy saying something she only half caught—no way, no way she’s been like that the whole time—
A car honked as it rolled past. Jenna flinched so hard she nearly lost her footing. She threw herself into the seat. The leather was cold against skin that had no business touching it. She slammed the door, then immediately realized the windows were still down.
She fumbled for the switches and hit the wrong one. The passenger window dropped instead of rising. Cool air rushed in. So did another burst of laughter from outside.
“Need a ride somewhere?” one of them called, still laughing. “Or a shirt?”
“Go away!”
She got the windows up on the second try, started the engine with shaking hands, and threw the car into drive. In the rearview she caught a last glimpse of both boys still standing there, phones up, the broken side-view mirror lying forgotten in the parking space she’d just left.
She didn’t stop for it.
She hunched forward over the wheel, arms clamped across her chest as much as driving would allow, and took the first turn that pointed toward home. She needed walls. She needed a locked door. She needed to not be seen by one more person.
Her face was burning. Her heart was hammering so hard she could hear it over the music still playing in over the radio. Every few seconds she glanced down at herself like the view might have changed.
It hadn’t.
She drove home naked, the busted mirror still sitting in the lot behind her, and did not look back.
