She just would not take the hint and shut up as she kept right on talking, “I am very thirsty, do you think there is any water around here?”
You crack open one eye and look at the girl that you just ravaged. She looks very young now and for some reason she is bringing out a protective urge in you that you don’t normally have. “I am not sure. Let’s poke around for a while and see if we can find something. I am more than a bit parched too.”
You heave yourself off of the sleeping pallet and tell her to follow you. She has pulled what is left of her clothes around her nakedness and you grab the torch and head out into the main warehouse. You continue to search along the walls and you find several more small rooms, offices or sleeping quarters for the workers in the warehouse. You hit pay dirt in the third one finding several bottles of decent wine, and some juice as well. There are also several loaves of good bread and some hard, yellow cheese.
The two of you dig into your small feast with abandon, eating as fast as the two of you can chew. You did not realize how hungry you were until the bread hit your mouth. Raising a bottle of wine to your mouth you let the dark red wine run down your throat filling your belly with a warm glow. Wiping your mouth with the back of your hand you study the girl who is wolfing down the food and juice like she has never eaten before. “So what is your name girl? What do they call you?”
“Adriana,” she replied through bites of bread.
You sit there eating for a while longer and before she says, “You know I never imagined that bread could taste so good. I can’t believe this whole night happened. They promised that it would be negotiated, that everything would go back to normal, that the city would not be sacked.”
You do not like the tone of hysteria in her voice and decided to try and distract her as you say, “How about we go check out what is behind that big door with the chain. Maybe I will find the hidden hoard of jewels in this stinking city and be rich.”
