Chapter 4

Venus has competition. Does she go to the tomb alone or does she convince Katherine to help her?

She goes alone

Although Katherine was undoubtedly a seasoned fighter, there was something off about her. Venus wasn't sure she could trust her, and decided it would be safer to go alone than with a potential enemy. As if the fates agreed with her decision, there was a gust of wind, and a piece of parchment flew from the wagon. Venus quickly snatched it up and found it was a crude map indicating the location of the tomb.

DuBois was still basking in the adoration of the crowd. If Venus left quickly, she should be able to reach the tomb before her - perhaps even arriving before nightfall. She hastily paid for the fastest horse at the stable and was on her way.

It was dusk by the time she arrived at the tomb. Hesitating only for a moment, she lit a torch and descended into the depths. She was still dressed in her casual wear, and it was only now that she drew her hidden sword. The tomb was vast, with a maze of tunnels, and Venus dreaded the amount of undead could be housed here.

Skeletons and ghouls poured out of the tunnels like water bursting through a dam, and came at her from all directions. With a battle cry, Venus slashed and kicked with a flurry of attacks, leaving pieces of her enemies scattered across the ground. Most were unarmed, their bony hands grabbing at her, trying to pull her down or strangle her. Soon her clothing was in tatters as she pulled away and she cursed herself for not opting to wear armor.

Venus knew she couldn't keep this up for long. She was beginning to tire, and the waves of enemies seemed endless. So far she had only suffered minor scrapes and scratches, but that would change if she didn't come up with a plan soon.

What does Venus do?
