Chapter 6 by TheArchitect TheArchitect

What is she up to?

She analyzes the shelves.

They mostly consisted of wood, like regular furniture, but Beth decided to make a more thorough search for any secret algorithms that it could contain. The lids' closing mechanism did not include a locking one, but required pulling the handle outwards with one's fingers. Doing it from inside required them to fit between the handle and the shelf floor.

"There's more than enough space to get out under normal conditions, but not if you're wearing these." — Beth was holding cute pink rubber mittens. — "And one's toes are taken care of, as a pair of nice and tall heels already made them useless as a substitute. But what's next and what's the point? It's a game, I get it. Few win, the others all lose, but what happens to the losers? Do they stay here forever? Hello? Anyone there?"

A few more shelves showed no life signs, and nobody answered the call.

"They're evacuated out of here somehow, aren't they? But how?"

"Hmm... I think I should give her a chance to satisfy her curiosity. If I do nothing, she's out of here in an hour."

Maybe the answer comes later.
