She Feels Something at Her Feet

Sona didn’t make it one step out of the door before her resolved shattered. As soon as her foot left the threshold, it bumped into something, causing her to hop back in surprise. Looking down, she saw that the obstruction was the Demacian Constant, the nation’s premier newspaper. And on the front page was here picture.

Forgetting about everything else, Sona grabbed the paper and rushed inside, spreading it out over the dining table.

“Maven Bares All!” read the top headline, above a photograph of her performing at the The Golden Round, Demacia City’s most famous theater, where she was also scheduled to perform this week.

“After losing a bet in the Leauge of Legends, House Buvelle’s famous daughter agreed to go nude for the week following.” Sona scowled and the mere implication that she had agreed to this. “However, the musician has not been seen since the night of the match. When asking around town, local shop owners noted that she had been absent on her usual shopping days. Some fans are starting to lose heart and fear that she may be backing out of the wager.

“When reached for comments House Buvelle’s spoke’s person had this to say: While we do not condone the brash and reckless behavior that brought this situation upon Sona, we hope that she will follow through with the conditions of the wager and not bring further shame to Buvelle name.

“House Crowngard’s Garen echoed his sentiments heard on the match; Demacia’s honor and integrity is at stake. I hope that my colluge and friend will do the right thing and show Zaun that we are made of sterner stuff than criminals such as them could ever know.

“Stewart of the Lightshields, Xin Zhao, issued a written statement to the press; While the situation is regrettable, I would like to personally ensure Sona Buvelle’s safety to a greater degree than the laws fo Demacia already afford. Security personnel have already been informed to remain extra vigilante and courteous in her presence, and we encourage her and anyone else who saw or suspects any wrongdoing directed towards her to report it immediately.”

Sona sighed, her worst fears being realized. Not only her fans, but her family and the other families of the city were all expecting her to go through with this farce. At the very least, reading Xin Zhao’s assurances put her mind at ease slightly. Her safety hadn’t been something that she had been terribly worried about to begin with, but that extra security was not unwelcome. The fact that she also had the support of her fans and the other families of the city, however wildly misguided, also eased her nerves ever so slightly.

After taking a few moments to regain her composure, she opened her front door and set out again. She walked halfway down the path to the front gate of her property and before she had to stop. She was outside, completely naked save for her shoes. She desperately wanted to cover herself, but fought the urge. She knew that it was a waste of time. Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself again, she closed her eyes, feeling the sun and breeze on every part of her. She walked the rest of the way to the gate and opened it, setting out for her day’s errands.
