Taken back by her vehemence, I adopted a look of contrition. "Look, Rebecca, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to push you like that and I was just teasing."

She looked at me, deciding rather or not if I meant the apology. "Very well, John, I believe you. I won't let you sleep with me. However, if you behave for the rest of the day, I will give you a bit of a reward," she promised me.

"What kind of reward?" I asked.

"Behave and you'll find out."
