She's being given a partner.

"We're going to partner you with another Alliance operative." Hackett decided. "They should be here any moment."

A partner, seriously? Miranda thought. This was a waste of her time.

"Sir, I know it's a bloody cliché, but I work best alone." Miranda protested. She had to admit it was also an exaggeration. Shepard brought out the best in her, just like he did everyone, but that was hardly an option.

"I know you're new to the whole military thing, Lieutenant, but in the Alliance, we can't act like lone wolves all the time. You need to learn that." Hackett insisted.

"Admiral, your operative has arrived." A secretary's voice from a nearby console chimed in.

"Good." Hackett responded. "Send 'em in."
