She'll have to try a neighbor's... which means taking the train

Sadayo Kawakami found herself without access to Leblanc and without her wallet, keys, or phone; this left the laundromat as the only place she knew of around here that was open to her and not likely to be full of other squatters with even worse problems than hers. She couldn't sleep in the laundromat... not only because it would be difficult to do in general, because presumably, she'd get thrown out at some point. Sojiro took some weird hours and so did Ren... it could be a long time before either of them came home and if it was Sojiro, she'd have quite a chore, explaining to him how she got in this predicament to begin with.

At some point, would Ryuji open that wallet or phone and realize who he'd stolen from? That was a serious problem, but one she couldn't afford to think about right now.

All she could think about was her bed at home. If she could just tuck her head under the covers and sleep for a few hours, she'd be transformed back into the Kawakami who can handle life no matter how tough it gets: grading papers, preparing tests, mopping floors, dusting baseboards, kicking ass, and taking names! Right now, though, her legs felt like noodles and her spirit felt exhausted. The way back into her home apartment wasn't an easy one...

It would mean first taking the train, then getting one of her busy-body neighbors to identify her so the superintendent would open up the room for her. She was loathe to rely on her neighbors in the first place... they were a bunch of self-absorbed gossips, much like the other teachers at her underperforming school, and she didn't get along with any of them very well. They'd sure have something to talk about if they noticed her walking around bare-footed at this increasingly ungodly hour of the night. Still, she'd risk it. She'd take the scorn and the judgment. She needed her bed that badly.

Of course, even the train needed either a pass or fare. With no pass, she'd need to rely on paying her way. Thankfully, she managed to scratch up just enough loose-change from inside the laundromat to make it work, then headed for the subway. At this time of night, the others in the train station with her were a little sketchy... but also, not great in number. That was a blessing. She didn't want to see anybody she knew until she was properly redressed. With a grunt, she pulled her hair out of its double ponytails, then ran her hands through it to give it its normal shape. For this train-ride home, it would be easier if people didn't think she was an on-call maid.

The train car was blessedly empty... Well, that kind of situation can actually be dangerous for a lady by herself at this time of night, but for now, she was just happy for the peace and quiet. In fact, being alone on that train car was the happiest she'd felt all day. Future Kawakami could deal with the annoyance of her neighbors, but for now, present Kawakami was just happy to be out of the cold and away from prying eyes. Sighing, she stared at the ceiling and slipped deeper and deeper into that comfortable silence...

She slipped a bit too deeply into it, actually. Soon enough, Kawakami was asleep.

Kawakami couldn't afford to sleep! If she did, she might miss her stop. Hers was one of the furthest on this train route, but still, that didn't mean she could afford to lose track of time.

Even knowing that, she'd drifted off. A scant ten minutes later, however, something began to rustle her into an awakened state. She blinked her eyes open slowly and quietly, fighting off drowsiness, as she noticed a source of movement in the car.
