Chapter 4

The end of a long day
Settling in
Now that the excitement of the morning is over, it is time to find the new place to call "home." Luckily, Isaac remembered to bring a map of the campus, for just such an occasion.
"Let's see..." he though aloud, unfolding his map. "I am staying in the Stark building, which is by the business center and the library. Perfect!" Isaac grabbed his things and began walking to his assigned room.
Winchester Academy is supported, both financially and with personnel, by the Avengers and SHIELD, so it is no surprise to see buildings and places named after heroes, and the occasional agents patrolling the campus. It is extremely rare to see an actual Avenger here, but Captain America and Iron Man have been known to make an appearance from time to time. Some suspect that they walk the campus under the guise of a student, but this has never been confirmed.
The distance to his dormitory was not terribly far from the drop-off zone from this morning, which Isaac found to be lucky. His walk to his new home was mostly ignored, but there were some who would stare and occasionally point, much to Isaac's irritation. A sudden gust of wind reminded him that he had two holes in his shirt, which he hoped to be the reason for the looks. His desire for anonymity caused him to walk a little faster, hoping to find solace in his own room, away from the prying eyes of others.
After what felt like an hour, he finally arrived at his destination: the Stark building. This imposing structure had a modern and metallic aesthetic, likely attributed to the one it was named after. This dormitory was somewhat of a tall building, containing 20 floors after the lobby. Its architecture was designed in a way that the building functioned as a typical dorm building, but clearly resembled Start Tower as much as possible. After ogling the well-designed structure, Isaac proceeded inside to be greeted by a spacious lobby, filled about a third full with other students, and a busy receptionist. As he approached her desk, he noticed that she stayed in the same place at her computer, but objects were moving seemingly on their own towards her, arriving precisely when needed.
She must be controlling this. Does she have the power to move things with her mind? Do all of the workers here have powers as well?
"Sir? Hello? Excuse me, sir!" This voice Isaac snapped back into reality. The cute receptionist was trying to get his attention.
"Oh! Yes! Sorry. My name is Isaac Holt, and I am checking in." He might as well have said "reporting for duty," the way he said this so stiffly.
"One moment please..." The sound of typing filled the silence between them. "Yes, you are in room 2010, suite C." As this information was read to him, a small envelope floated down from the large shelf behind her, down to the desk in front of Isaac. "There is your room key, plus a spare, in the event that one is lost or defective. You may check in at anytime. The elevators are on both sides of the lobby. If your keys do not work, let me or your floor leader know, and we will resolve it for you. Enjoy your room, and thank you for attending Winchester Academy!" All of this information was rattled off as if she had said it then thousand times, which might actually be true.
Isaac to the small envelope with the keys from the desk, and took one of the elevators to floor 20, the top floor. As expected, even the elevators seemed to be high tech, while still maintaining a functional, everyday purpose. Instead of singular buttons to press for a floor, an ID card had to be swiped for the digital screen to activate, allowing floors to be selected. A security measure, to be sure. A sudden ding notified him that he had arrived on his floor, which surprised him, considering that it had only been a few seconds. The trip was fast and smooth, unlike most elevators he had ridden before arriving here.
Once the doors opened, the signs on the wall pointed him towards his room. The entire floor was made of high end material, completely different from the dorm life he always expected. This felt more like a corporate office than a college dorm. Nevertheless, Isaac followed the hallway to the right, passing by a large common area, currently with very few students gathered around a large flat screen TV, and to the end of the next hall, where "2010" was etched into the door.
This is it. This is my home now. Time to get used to it! he thought to himself before entering his key, and hearing the lock clock open. Entering the room, he stepped into a smaller common area, complete with necessary furnishings. It was now evident that every part of this building was high tech, or at least made with quality materials. The floors looked to be some kind of stone, maybe marble or granite? Isaac is no expert on fancy stones. The walls were sleek and smooth, dotted with various pieces of technology, such as a thermostat. A large, comfortable looking couch was centered in the middle of this area, with two smaller couches adjacent on both sides. A TV the same as in the larger common area of the floor, was mounted on the wall in front of the plush seating. Making this place even better was a fully furnishing kitchen, with equally high end equipment. Next to it was a large round table, complete with six chairs, all looking very sturdy. This place was very impressive! This felt more like a luxury vacation than any dormitory! Then again, if this is the Stark building, does that mean it was built with inspiration from Mister Stark, or did he help fund/build/design it? This thought was interrupted by a sudden voice in the room, coming from one of the doors.
"Hey man! What's up!?"
