Settle Up Pt 5

Walt and Penny had loaded the trailer up and taken the ponies with them to drop off at the base since they were going that way. It made all of them happy just to spend a little more time together. Hugging them farewell and watching Penny with them did his heart good and honestly it seemed like the whole outing had made everyone happy. He resolved to do it again soon!

Actually watching Penny period made him happy. She had dressed in a variation on her standard outfit again! The skirt was a bit shorter and her top accentuated her figure and proportions quite a bit more. It was still a very wholesome look but it was just a hint of daring and lot more flirtatious. She was lovely. When he asked her she said Haruna had begun customization of their outfits for the ladies. He resolved to do something nice for the Goblin girl soon!

(("Messgage from Kussi, Boss."))

Walt smiled. "Thank you, Friday. Put it through." He grinned as he read it through. "Leave it to Courier Six. They'll get the "package" delivered. Good work. Make sure they've got some Ice-cold Sunset Sarsaparilla and Nuka-Cola waiting for them upon their return."

(("Understood, Walt."))

"Something good, Master?" Penny asked smiling at him and taking his hand.

"Yes," he told her. "Very good news. Jimbo's coming back safe and sound. It's taking just a little while to round up everyone off that dump world they found him on and gather the fleet. But they've already been through medical and everything checks out. He'll be home shortly."

Penny grinned. "I am so happy for you and his family! That is wonderful news! Oh, I know!" She nodded to herself making a fist. "I shall have to make them all a basket of cookies! I will start tomorrow! Friday can you help me?"

(("Certainly, Penny. I have a list of all the Gardners and most of their households preferences. I even have a recipe for mustard cookies that Starfire quite enjoys. We will need..."))

Walt was glad they'd made that trip to Costco for supplies... but maybe he'd have to have industrial shipments of "cookie supplies" just shipped to home on the regular rather than go every week.

The weather wasn't great. Off and on rain. "Well, we'll just have to play it by ear and see what happens."

Penny smiled and took his hand. "Everything will be fine as long as we're together."

He couldn't agree more.

"Alright everyone look alive! It's the worst-case scenario! "Boss" and "Copper" are going to be winging it! Knowing "Boss" he'll try to minimize the potential for any problems but this means that the battlefield, conditions and enemies will still be "Random"! We know the "enemy" is out there somewhere targeting "Copper". They may or may not make a move. Stay on your toes and be ready for anything!"

There's a manic gleam in the eyes of many hardened professionals and trouble shooters that "ship" this pairing. Infact there isn't a single person in HQ, even the die hard ones who like other "ships", that doesn't personally want this date to go well!

Walt held the door of the truck open for Penny. "Thank you, Walt."

He smiled, "You're welcome, Penny," and then circled around to get in himself and drive for the main gates.

Penny smiled. "I like "Silver" fine but I'm glad we're in the "Dusty" truck again. It's special to me!"

Walt nodded and smiled taking her hand. "It's special to me as well! "Dusty" is one of my favorites but it was where we spent so much time together in the beginning."

Penny grinned. "That's what makes it so special to me as well, Walt! I am very fond of it. Everytime I look at it I think of all the memories we made in it together in so short a time! I love this truck!"

Walt grinned too as they got in line for the gate. "I love it too, Penny!" He contemplated the weather. "My plan was a simple dinner and a movie date with some activities before then but I'm afraid the weather doesn't want to cooperate exactly." They passed through security and exited the base. Walt tried to ignore their "shadows" just doing their jobs. "It might clear up later on though and we have plenty of time. Is there something you'd like to do or see something you'd like to try?"

Penny nods. "I'm happy to do just about anything as long as we get to do it together!"

Walt chuckled. "Me too, Penny. That's what makes it a date."

Penny smiled and then saw something and pointed. "How about we try that!"

Walt looked at the billboard and sighed but nodded. He should have seen that one coming! "Sure Penny. We can do anything that you want to do. Friday?"

(("Of course. Plotting route to "Cries from the Abyss" Karaoke, Boss."))

Penny clapped as Walter drove to their destination.

"Cries from the Abyss has a part time position open! Get an asset in there asap! Make it happen on the double people!"

"Assets and agents are in disguise and moving to the location now. Arrival time is imminent!"

"Is everything alright? You all look... tense?"

Neo, Blake, Pyrrha, Kali, Sienna, Ahnassi and Lita look up at Glynda then at each other... and laugh softly.

"Sorry," Blake says. "I guess we're all thinking about the same thing..."

Neo nods and Pyrrha nods too. "Indeed. I'm certain that we are!"

Kali and Sienna smile. "It should be fine... but we do hope their date goes well."

"Ahnassi thinks she is worried needlessly," she says. "Still hard not to worry and wish sweet Penny well..."

Lita also nods. "We shouldn't be though! She's with Walter. Everything will work out somehow. Maybe we should begin dinner preparation and take our minds off of it? We do have fresh trout to cook." That last bit does raise some spirits.

Several of the new ladies nod and agree too. It's hard not to wish them well. Penny is almost as vital a component of the glue helping bind them together as Walt is, if not more.

Everyone decides it's best to keep busy.

Walt opens the door for Penny watching with a sneaking suspicion as a "help wanted" sign is taken out of the window.

Stepping up to the counter they're greeted by a fairly tall man in an employee apron. "Greetings customer." His hair has been gelled to stand back and up but there's still a trade mark lock that falls across his forehead. He's wearing a touch too much hastily added mascara and his vintage metal band T-shirt under the apron is definitely on backwards.

His name tag reads "Clark" as he looks down and reads aloud from a card. "Greet the customer with "Welcome to the "Cries from the Abyss" where you can shout out from the bottom of your soul. I am use your name here. How may we tempt you with our dark delights oh damned one?" Be "dark and edgy" and do not read out loud-" he stops and Walt is suddenly very embarrassed by watching Clark Kent try to be "dark and edgy". He just looks like he has an upset stomach instead. Disguise is not his best skill, nor acting, but he did get here quickly, have an interview and manage to get the position in record time. When it came to bodyguard details in record time there were few better. Walt glanced at Penny. Would she buy into it?

Penny waved. "Salutations, Use Your Name Here Clark! I am Penny and this is Walter! We would like to do the karaoke, please."

Walt nodded. "Yes, please. Two for a karaoke booth. Thank you, "Clark"."

Clark smiled forgetting all about being "dark and edgy" as he helped his customers. "Certainly! I would be happy to take care of that you!"

After reserving the room and paying, "not at all dark Clark" led them to their karaoke booth. Walt was relieved that other than the name and vibe the place was a more or less standard Karaoke booth experience. Penny was already going through their song selections as Walt ordered some drinks before Clark could leave.

"Walt?"

"Yes, Penny?"

"What is the RWBY soundtrack?" She asked.

"Oh, boy howdy... uh, how to put this?" Walt thinks. "Each season of the "show" had different opening songs but also specific songs for certain characters and scenes and...Penny?"

Penny's eyes are lit up with excitement! "Can we sing all of the songs?!"

Walt swallows. "All of them? That's a rather tall order Penny..." looking into her eyes though he doesn't stand a chance "... I tell you what. Let's start at the beginning and sing as many as we can until time runs out and then we'll see, alright? If we don't make it through all of them in one session then we will have to either sing them at home sometime or come back. We can even listen to them in the truck together sometime and singalong."

Penny nods vigorously, clearly excited by this idea! "Yes, please! I like this idea very, very much! Tjank you, Walt!" Her smile is almost too bright.

Walt smiles seeing her so happy. "You're very welcome Penny. Let's start at the beginning with the original trailers. Oh looks like we can do regular karaoke or a singalong... which would you like?"

Penny picked up a microphone. "Let's do singalong! That sounds like more fun to me!"

Walt nodded and cued up the the red trailer for Penny and took her hand. If it made her this happy it was worth it.
